I used a quicktime, but given it's size, I'm sure it would fit in a GM bellhousing. The pressure plate is narrower than the flywheel as I recall, it's not a big clutch.

As for release point, I think that has a lot to do with hydraulics as well as the clutch. On mine, it releases / engages just below the middle of travel, which feels very correct to me. It's certainly not high, and not grabby off the floor. It feels very smooth...
