Also had a great time. Just happened to pick a hotel that was on the same corner as the famous sign. Watched the parade of hotrods every night. The weather was perfect, no humidity, no bugs, every night around 6 a breeze would start blowing and not stop.
Apparently the Grand Sierra was the epicenter for all the big parties and hotrods, we missed a lot of that doing more touristy stuff like Tahoe. Speaking of Lake Tahoe, that place was breathtaking! ...but the crowds were insane.
I did not find Reno to be the shizhole it was rumored to be. The area around some of the older casinos is run down but overall not much different than where I'm from. Same bums sleeping in the park, same panhandlers hanging around the casinos. But tons of folks walking dogs, kids playing, people friendly.
