Search for mail and parcel stores in the area that also do freight. They'll have the ability to pick up, strap to a pallet and schedule a freight pickup.

Like I tried to say above when typing on phone, LTL freight is cheap as long as you don't have them pick up or deliver to residential areas or need door to door service. And it doesn't need to be crated...just strapped to a pallet should be fine. They won't stack anything on top of a lightweight pallet with just a transmission on it, more than likely that will get stacked on top of other crates in the truck.
