Default 69 RS Camaro LS7 Dry Sump Oil Tank

Looking for some installation pictures or tips on the Fitment of the dry sump tank up on the rad cradle on the passenger side. I'm told at best I can get a Peterson 1-1/2 gallon tank mounted there without inerference from the RS head lights.

In the event you decide to relocate your battery and tray, you have much more options. I'm going to run a 2.5 gal Canton tank and place it right next to my radiator on the core support

You need at least 10 qts. or you will suck the tank dry with any track use at sustained high rpm.

Agreed. The gallon and a half prolly wont cut it for a track session.

I mounted a Peterson 3 gallon tank behind my passenger seat (which could easily be put in the trunk) for my LS7 setup. While the lines were long it did well. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Peter...iABEgIrRPD_BwE

You are aware that the factory LS7 dry sump system is subpar and needs quite a few upgrades to perform better? Mine when road raced would hold pressure from about 5000-7000rpm and not gain any. Meaning it would be about 55psi from 5-7K rpm. After much research the stock LS7 oil pump cover can deflect allowing oil to bypass the pump and not increase in pressure as RPMs go up. That is why there are billet cover style pumps out. In addition ARE and others offer an additional external pump plus different style oil pan to make the oiling system really work. I sold my stock LS7 engine pretty much due to this as it was going to be $3K to redo my oiling setup.

I am new to this also,just bought a new LS9 and have not picked it up yet but curious about the dry sump and was wandering if it was the same as an LS7 and was looking at the Peterson 10qt tank, thanks for any hellp also.

The LS9 uses a wider pressure stage gear in the pump to add more volume for the piston oilers.

Ya I have an LS7 going into a 1st gen camaro and have been contemplating what to do with the oiling system. Aviaid has a good article on the subject, http://aviaid.com/shopsite_sc/store/...s-z06-ls7.html. Hard to know who to believe/trust sometimes with all the paranoia developed to get you to purchase a product, unless you're the guy working with these issues on a daily basis. Then Katech sells the modified oil pump to improve scavenge. http://store.katechengines.com/high-...pump-p175.aspx. Not about to spend 3k on an oiling system
