Ceramic coating Paint sealant

Has anyone had this done to their car's paint before? My brother is looking at getting it done and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. It will be done to a new 2018 duramax dually. The 3m clear bra guys dont think they can get the film to lay down properly on his dually fenders so they suggested this ceramic coating.

I have clear bra and ceramic on my daily driver '17 Camaro. IMO, it's the new "wax". Great part it last longer. If you have it professionally done, they will want to do a paint correction to do it right.

Strange they can't get it to lay down.. considering the exotics I've seen with full wraps/clear bra.

Ceramic will help protect the fenders.. but clear bra would work much better.

My '17 has both as well. XPEL for the film and CarPro for the coating. It requires a boost application. I do it every other wash. CarPro's version of the boost is called Reload. I used to wash the car, then dry and apply Reload. Now I use the Reload to help dry the car. This works well for me.

As mentioned, you will need paint correction prior to this. My car looked awful right off of the showroom floor until the shop I used (Chicago Auto Pros), got done with it.

It was expensive, but I'd do it again.

If you already have a rigid washing schedule and good technique, you may want to opt out of this. It will save you a few years of waxing and paint correction provided you practice good washing technique's.

They do. For a DIY guy that would like to skip a few waxings, this may be a very cost effective way.

I believe Modesta is the top dog still. It is a very wet looking durable finish that requires many many steps and is baked on. I saw this on an M4 and it was very impressive looking. I believe the cost was just touching $2900. This was complete coverage of glass, wheel faces/barrels, calipers, protective film, etc.

If you have it professionally applied, do your homework on the shop. Visit them and see what they are doing and how they operate. Google them. There is a quite a of lablor to do this correctly.

It's hard to put the coatings life in terms of time. All cars see different environmental damage. If you have a fair weather sunny day driver with great maintenance technique, it'll most likely last much longer than advertised. If not, it may not last as long.

I have a daily driver beater that I started using Sonax Netshield Polymer Sealant on. I love this product so much, I use it on my wifes new Explorer Sport. It doesn't compare to the coating on my SS, but it one of the more impressive products I've seen. I still use Adam's products from time to time.

A LOT of guys over on CorvetteForum get the ceramic coating applied. I’ve never heard anything bad about this process. I don’t drive my Chevelle enough to warrant this, but if I did, I would not hesitate. It’s the bees knees.

I don't think that Ceramic coating is what you want. I have it one of my Porsche over the clear film and love it. To keep it working asintended you have to hand wash it. Car wash brushes, even the best ones will wear through it in a year. It also doesn't provide chip protection. Have PPF on another car and track it a lot, it works great. I'd suggest going to another installer. No car is too curvy or complex for a good installer to do a PPF.
