Default t56 LSA bellhousing Problem

Hey guys, I had a 69 camaro set up for LS2 and T56 out of a GTO. Decided to upgrade to an LSA out of a 2013 camaro. Bought a T56 Magnum and Tremec 1386-212-005 bellhousing. It hits the starter nose cone before it goes together.. Did I buy the wrong bellhousing? I was told just to grind it down, which I'm OK with as long as that will work.... TIA

Derek

I'm using a Quicktime RM-8020 bellhousing for my LSA/T56 setup and it didn't require any modification to make it work. The Quicktime bellhousing says it will work for LS1 and LS2 blocks as well, so it seems to me that the bellhousing you have should work also since it claims to support those same blocks. Or maybe the starter you're using has an unusually long nose??

the problem maybe in the starter. you said you were going to use an ls2/t56 out of a gto. did you maybe use the starter from the gto? the gto starter is different and sits higher then the rest of the ls engine starters if i remember correctly. just a guess.

T56 Magnum can run the GTO bellhousing; however needs that LS2 GTO starter... or break out the grinder and see where it interferes. You will remove a lot of material to make it work.

If running an Fbody LS1 style bellhousing you can run an FBody/truck/GTO style starter....

Remember the LSA has a different crank bolt pattern than an LS1/2/3/7.
