Default T56 Magnum in 69 Camaro with Holley LS swap

Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations,

I work at a GM dealership and got a great price on a GM Performance Magnum T56. Now, I have the transmission, Holley LS swap kit including crossmember, aluminium bellhousing and LS7 clutch and GM throw out bearing.

I am fairly sure I will need to cut the transmission tunnel. I will also need the clutch master and bracket/linkage. I want an SFI bellhousing and will need a driveshaft and small parts (reverse lockout, wiring connectors etc).

I will be running a GM 525hp LS3 and ECM and a Moser 12-bolt.

Who has the best parts or kit currently and best customer service? Price is an issue but secondary to customer service and quality.
Any advice or prior experience is helpful.

I did search but going 3 years back I didn't find much solid info on kit quality, fitment, parts availability etc,

Thanks in advance,
Jayson

Hurst Drivelines has always taken good care of me.

Here was my tunnel cut/clearance solution. Saved me multiple times due to shifter issues.

If it were me I wouldn't run the factory GM iron flywheel. The LS7 clutch/flywheel combo is one heavy SOB. Get the LS2 style Fidanza alum flywheel and the engine will be very rev happy.... otherwise you will truly have nearly 60lbs of rotating mass instead! Thanks, the LS7 clutch and flywheel won't stay long. Just need to get the car up and running. I will swap it out as soon as I start adding power.

If you are running all the newer holly lsx swap parts, you shouldn't have to raise the tunnel. I just dropped that same setup in a 69 (T56, not a magnum). In reading their paperwork it should work without cutting the tunnel with the magnum as well.

I will test fit the trans before I cut, but the paperwork I have says with the Magnum you must cut the tunnel. My QuickTime bellhousing just arrived so I will test fit once I finish the subframe connectors.
I hope you're right and I don't have to cut the tunnel.

If you end up cutting your tunnel like I had to in my '68, Speedtech makes a pre-fab tunnel cover that I attached with 3M body panel adhesive.

This tunnel was a much batter match & fit than the speedtech tunnel. I ended up returning the speedtech. It just doesnt have the extra room in the right places. Now I was using running a DSE frame, but the space needed to raise the trans should be generally the same.

Thanks for the feedback, I hope to get the transmission fitted next weekend. I will check out the chassisworks piece.
