Default Upgrading CS 144 Alternator

So back when I installed my electric fans 6 years ago or so I also upgraded to a CS144 style alternator. Can't remember where I purchased it from but it came with the adapter plug so I could wire my choke wire up to "excite" the new alternator. It has performed flawlessly even with everything I put the car thru but apparently gave up the ghost couple of days ago.

I am looking into putting a new voltage regulator and Rectifier in the old alternator as the rest of it is still in good shape.

Has anyone here ever done this and if so, did you also upgrade it to make more amp output at the same time? Some upgrades have these alternators putting out over 200 amps. I'm even considering getting the parts to convert it to a one wire alternator just to clean up harness under the hood a bit more.
