Default Wheel offset

So i just ordered my wheels for my 69 camaro. The shop building them asked me to order it in offset instead of backspacing. Is this right or am i way off?

18x10 - 5 3/4 backpace = ET6
18x8 - 5" backspace = ET12

Thanks!

Pretty much... +6mm (1/4" is 6.35mm) and +12mm (1/2" = 12.7mm). Someone please correct me if I am off for some reason.
