Default Project Vertigo update

I realized I kept adding pics and updates to my car in the paint/body section and so I wanted to move it to the right place. (Thanks Anthony - HA!)

Anyway, here's a quick recap of what it is and what's in it, along with pics. It just finished paint a week ago and should be back in my builder's shop in Carson City, NV by end of this week to begin installing all the goodies. Should be adding pics over next couple months til it's completed.

I vote for the center stripe too...but would be tempted to leave it off the deck lid.

Hey, I recognize that engine!

Word of advice before it gets you in trouble or leaves you stranded... replace that power steering bracket. The idler pulley likes to blow up v-belts with alarming regularity. Been there, done that, and trashed several belts with that same bracket & idler pulley setup.

Yeah, it's funny about that old Chevy... it's one of the biggest reasons I was locked up in paint jail for so damn long! LOL

We really need to nail that stance for sure. The front 275s have already been mocked up with the stock subframe and it fits good so far. Should be plenty of room in back for the 335s. Measuring for the rear end/axles next week.

Yeah I am now sure if I am gonna do the center stripe or just the small SS stripe. Still torn on that and I like them both....

Chris, I talked to Anthony awhile back about possibly trying to get my car up to you to finish paint/body but luckily my builder and painter worked it out. You were probably overwhelmed anyway!

Can't wait to the Cuda you are doing next.

Thanks for the heads-up... what would you recommend for a better bracket setup?

I built my own. It uses the same ATI spacers & pulley and fits in the same location. I made a new plate and used a turnbuckle from the lower portion of the water pump to apply belt tension, then you tighten the 2 bolts to the front of the block to lock it down.

I have a pic here where you can see it.

http://home.comcast.net/~procharged6.../psbracket.jpg

Lower bolt hole is the pivot, the upper bolt is the slot for adjustment. It has a somewhat narrow adjustment range but with the right size belt you only need it to move a little bit to achieve proper tension.

Haven't blown up a single belt with the new bracket. With the ATI setup with the idler pulley I would get about 400-500 miles of life out of a v-belt before they would start to split badly; first high RPM zing in that condition would result in a grenaded belt.

I still have the CAD drawing of it. You can print it out to scale and use that for a template or CNC it if you want to go that route. Eventually I'll remove mine and lighten it up some with a few speed holes & pockets, it's way beefier than it needs to be. I only made it out of 3/4" aluminum plate because that's what the ATI bracket is and keeping it the same thickness allowed me to reuse their spacers & pulley.
