So your going to play that card. Just buying any car does not make you fast. You have to put the time in behind the wheel. Driving school would help 90% of the field at these events before one fancy ass part will do anything to anyone to make then actually know what they are doing.
If someone in this industry went out with a purpose built car for this event and knew how to drive they could really show guys what's up. Stielow and Kyle tucker and a few others are doing what they can with a 1st or 2nd Gen Camaro. But they have limited themselves to what can be done when DSE is doing what they can with parts they can sell to bolt on to every Camaro that was never designed to do what they are doing with them under the limitations a 69 Camaro is going to have. When you go buy a new Corvette, the technology difference between a Corvette and a covered wagon is about the same as a 69 Camaro and new Corvette. Sure they probably make more new parts for the that 69 Camaro to get it closer to the Vette. You can listen to all the marketing hype all day long, But the problem is your still trying to race that "1969" Camaro. The low end Vette comes stock with tires, a Camaro needs crazy special parts to fit. The sheetmetal over hang on the Camaro is 10 times more then a C6 Vette. The fuel tank position sucks in a Camaro. The aero package of a Vette is far more advanced then a Camaro. The unsprung weight of the aluminum control arms is far superior.
The 1969 Camaro will kill the vette everyday of the week in Visual appeal. Until some one does what lay Brian Hobaugh did with his and probably go further, Then with a top notch driver with a tested and tuned car will you ever see it. From what I know Brian is an autocross guy and more points are put on the road course at the Optima deal. Somebody needs to completely rethink a Camaro, and really learn how to drive. Then it will happen.
But at what point will it not be a "STREET CAR"?
