Default Ground circuit

I know the ground side of the circuit is always overlooked or "under engineered" compared to the hot side of the circuit, but.....

Is it really necessary to run the ground for the VA magnum AC unit all the way to the frickin battery? That's what the instructions say and the ground wire (which is white, which is weird) is really long, like they aren't joking around...…

Some of my other accessories act like they want the ground run all the way to the battery too....which seem like total overkill if you have a bunch of other ground from frame to body, to engine block etc....

My FAST XFI and XIM are going all the way to the battery for sure.....but I don't really want 15 grounds at or near the battery..... I know I can run a junction with multiple grounds and then one larger ground to battery, but I still then have to run multiple grounds all the way to one spot in the car and then one common ground all the way to the trunk mounted battery...

It is not necessary but it is lowest risk. They are trying to avoid a noisy ground connection shared with an EFI unit etc. If your body is well grounded and you don’t share the ground screw with something else you should be ok. Try to avoid combining a lot of grounds onto one ground wire and running that wire back to the battery.

I have the exact same setup..,
FAST XFI, XIM, and VA magnum.

Here's what I did:
FAST and XIM grounds to the battery terminal directly. No compromise there.
VA Magnum grounded to a Ron Francis front ground block along with a few other grounds..,

It performs flawlessly.

yeah I get the FAST XFI aspect....take no chance with the ECM getting weird noise...… but the other stuff being run all the way to the battery seems extreme...
