Default Would you hate me if....

Guys,
Before I ask this question, I'd like it to say here, and not wander over to PT.com.
That being said, who is going to hate me if 50/50 does not get a twin turbo engine?
I am thinking it is not needed for the power level I want to achieve. After a great talk with Steevo, we have decided that less is more for this car. No 345 rear tires, no 900hp engine, possibly no turbos. I want to put the hurt on some cars that have the 365/30/YR/18 rear tires, 1125 hp engines, and ultra custom suspensions, and I'd like to do it with a nice proven, non exotic setup. I think my car has enough cool features, so it not having 2 squirrels under the hood isn't going to hurt the finished product, especially if I lay the smack down on the TT cars.
What are your thoughts on this matter?
Tyler

You know, on every car there are features that define it. In 50/50's case, I don't think the hairdryers are it. The suspension and 50/50 theme along with the custom body are the defining features of your car. So no, I don't think dropping the turbos from the build would be a negative.

What, so you're supercharging it????

I wouldn't hate ya for it, but if this means changes to the final renderings (which I'm working on right now) I'll have to...shake my fist angrily.

I figure you'll save a lot of trouble by going more meat & potatoes on 50/50, but I think it should still make its point. Wasn't this supposed to be a car that could stomp any other high-end pony car? Something that could be driven on any given day in traffic and not overheat and be unbearable, taken to the track on weekends, kick all kinds of butt, and then take you to work on the following Monday? Will it still have cupholders?

Hey, if it lives up to the original idea, go for it! Besides, it's your car, you have to live with it. I think you should build it to your specs. Just as many people will criticize a twin-turbo monster as a N/A setup.

That aside, any particulars on what you want to run now?

Kris

I didn't think the original plan called for twin turbos anyway, did it? I do not see any issue with that at all, at least not in my eyes. Your car is your car and it will be trick no matter what. You've earned that respect from me.

Don't worry about the Turbo's. It's your car. Build it the way you think it should be built. Don't let others influence you. Hmmm...... That's nothing like what happens here.... Nooooo..... ANYway, If you don't want them, don't use them. It's not gonna hurt us any.

What does the sentence mean that starts with "I want to put a hurt on..... Its your car, you should build it for what you like. People have a variety of dislikes and likes - just do what you will be happy with.

Cool, I knew you guys would understand.
The plan was for a TT LS1 to go with the car, but the more I think about it, it doesn't seem needed with the 750 hp goal. I'll just run a N/A LS1 that will run like crazy.
Stuart-
It means I desire to kick the snot out of cars with bigger and better stuff than my car.

I say can the TT's. I think a supercharged LS1 or a LS1 with NOS will get the results you desire. Either way its your car and YOU do what YOU want. The car is awesome now, without an engine!

Tyler does sound confrontational, but there is some science in there somewhere. The question is: What if I build my car with just the right amount of power--And just the right size tire? Is balanced design more competitive than excessive design? Does excess power serve any advantage other than top speed (both 1/4 mile and open road race). Do ultra wide tires hurt lap times?

Of course the real question is: How does one determine "just enough power"? Where's Goldie Locks when you need her? "This car has too much power...This car does not have enough power...This car is just right." Boost can be dialed out.

So benchracing aside--snot kicking and all--I'd like to see an objective discussion on the subject of balanced vs excessive vehicle specs.

I'm in agreement also with the consensus. I am having second thoughts due to the fact that I am going to have to change just about every thing I have currently built to go the TT route. I may set the twins in the corner and use them on something else so I can make the tour and hold my car costs down. Thanks for getting it out in the open.
