Default 1970 Z28

I purchased a 1970 z28 it has a 383 alum head stroker motor with a 4l80e transmission.

I want to put a ls3 with a t56 in the car. This car has vintage air installed also. Here is my question and appreciate all the help I can get cause I know nothing about cars nothing at all. LOL

If I bought this motor right here just for instance http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/5368735912.html what else will I need to buy to make the ls swap work?

I mean everything have to buy like ecm, alternator, and anything else.

Also can vintage air be compatible with the newer LS motors?

I am trying to work out a budget to make this happen. Also any shops on here that do this type of thing because will be paying for it to happen I do not work on cars.

I appreciate any feed back or help you can give me.

Don,

Any reasons why you wouldn't buy that particular LS3? Just curious.

Price seems high compared to a new crate engine. Can't hear it running, cracked intake etc. LS3 crate engines are a great deal. No need to gamble on a used engine. Especially for a newb to swaps...

Your questions are best answered if you post them in the LSx forum, but here are my answers/opinions:

Speed Inc does plenty of LS swaps and there just outside of Chicago


Here is my advise. Skip the LS swap and do all of you pro-touring mods

Suspension
Brakes
Wheels & Tires

Nice seats
Steering Wheel

Then enjoy the car for a little bit before you spend 10 grand on the swap.

There is nothing wrong with the small block as is. They have worked for years leave it and enjoy it.

I suggest doing the engine you want first. I did not and now wish I had. There is a lot more opportunity to scratch all your purdy stuff trying to do the engine last.

I would also buy a new crate. What people are asking is just stupid. I'm actually looking for an LS7 and have only found ones that are pretty darn new price.

I live in the Houston area did call couple shops and after talking to them was around 10 - 13 k depending. So since the car I bought has 383 stroker new plan is just what this said. I bought a msd atomic efi, new fuel tank, lines, painless wiring kit, and then will redo interior then suspension. I just could not fit everything in at one time wih my budget but this route should get me 70 - 75 % long as everything goes well.

I like that idea but with my budget have this year have to go a different route.
