Steering arm hits 18x9" wheel with ATS spindles
I have 1969 Nova with ATS spindles and 18x9"wheels with 5.5 BS.
Unfortunately the steering arm hits the wheel.
The easiest way is to change the steering arm for a shorter one (like the one from the Chevelle).
But what will be the effects to the steering?
Any other solutions?
Would like to keep the spindles...

Short Arms
You don't want Chevelle steering arms, you want short Z28 Camaro arms, since they share the same subframes with your Nova. Originals are pricey, but there are repops everywhere.

As far as I know the short arms are not reproduced. The medium arms are reproduced.

What he said.
How bad is it hitting?
What wheels are you using? Are they cast or forged? Can the backspacing be changed?
If you decide to go with the short z/28 steering arms, measure what you have first to verify the shorter arms will solve the problem.
Can you shim the steering arms a 1/16" or 1/8"?
I'm running AFX spindles, Forgelines 18x8 4.875" BS with Z/28 arms and I have about 1/2" clearance between the wheel and outer tie rod end. My car hasn't had the front end aligned, but I don't think it's off that much.

I just found out I already have the short Z28 steering arms......
I can't redo the wheels. They are 2 piece billet, brushed and red anodized
I know the ATS has a 1" drop so maybe the stock spindle gives me more clearance....

Thanks to Photophucket i can't see the pics but it sounds like same problem I ran into though with 17" wheels. Ridetech TruTurn kit may help because the arms are different. May be worth a look.

I am interested in this as I need to purchase some wheels (Looking at Forgelines again).
I am doing a similar setup.
Stock Subframe
Speedtech Control Arms (Speedtech Road Assault kit)
ATX Spindles
C6 z06 brakes
Was wanting to run an 18" wheel but was needing to see the width and backspacing needed.
Sorry to hear about your issue. I am sure it is super frustrating.

Here you go buddy, hosted your pictures for you.
Again, definitely interested in the issue you are having as I have a lot of the same parts. Maybe just have to run a small BS with the 18" wheels.
Hopefully Blake@Speedtech can chime in as well!
