Default Hodgepodge C10

I first saw this truck about 10years ago sitting in a coworkers garage, covered with boxes and dust. At the time the kid didn’t want to sell it and was going to get to it “someday”. I’d bug him about it every time I was between cars or had a little extra money but it was always the same response, “someday”. Lucky for me he rolled his Tahoe and needed money to help with a down payment on a new rig.

We haggled back and forth and I ended up giving him $1100, the next weekend I went and grabbed it.

What I found when I got home was the motor wouldn’t turn over by hand...sh!t. I pulled the plugs and sprayed some mystery oil down the cylinders and would try it everyday after work. The motor came loose but I was concerned I broke a ring and even though it was free it may not be right, we’ll see. Fluids changed, new plugs and a quick carb rebuild....boom bam, it’s alive!

I unexpectedly found myself without a job, which also meant not having a daily that isn’t two wheeled...15 years with a company vehicle allowed me to have beater projects that didn’t need to be driven (reliable). I spent a few days getting drunk and figuring out what to do and decided to pull the rig in and get it sorted.

This is it today, it’s been my daily now for 6 weeks and only put me on the side of the road twice with a clogged fuel filter.

The 400 runs great, th350 shifts solid and it’s even got a 12 bolt posi. This weekend I went through the front end with new brakes, shocks and dropped spindles...much better.

Default Hodgepodge c10

Debasher,
Great looking truck and fun to run
My c10 clogged the filter the first time
I took it on a run.. changed it a couple
of times now and keep a spare filter in the truck

New gas tank is sitting on the counter waiting for
me to pull the bed and start the shortening process

Have fun with it and thanks for posting

Bob

Way cool! And lots of truck for the bang! er I mean -- lots of truck for the buck.

You spray that bad boy?? <spray in this case means paint>

Wait -- what do you mean you're out of work - I thought you were working on the water!

I WAS out of work, blind sided by the company that decided to close its mechanical department. Middle of the day with multiple jobs sold or being worked on...they were gracious enough to call me an Uber 🖕🏼

The paint I did in the garage with two days of sanding, zero body work and 9 cans of Ace Hardwares finest dtm (direct to metal) gloss gray. It looks like I got what I paid for which was an $80 paint job. Good from far, far from good.
It’ll be done right, the truck has zero bondo and zero rust and I needed it all covered in one color quickly.

Now if I can just make it ride less like a truck....
