Default Bullet mirrors for 1st gen Camaro

I have a set of 2nd gen mirrors for my 68 Camaro I am installing after paint. Recently I saw a 73 Chevelle with bullet mirrors and after checking it out , the 73 Chevelle SS came with the same style mirrors. Are these mirrors identical to the 2nd gen Camaro? Also do the 2nd gen mirrors have to be modified to install on the 1st gen Camaro?
Thanks

The Chevelle mirrors are bigger and the mounting posts are also different.

Do the Chevelle mirrors fit better than the 2nd gen Camaro mirrors?

The Chevelle mirror posts have studs sticking out of them while the 2nd Gen mirrors have a mounting bracket. I don't know personally which would fit better but I would think that the 2nd Gen would be easier to fit to a 1st Gen. I have not mounted either though.

I have second Gen mirrors on mine and there were no mods needed. If I remember right the only difference was the hole placement on the mounting plate. if yours are already welded up just make new ones. If they are still there use one of the holes and then drill the second one to work with the base plate. I also used the second gen cabled remote on mine.

Default 2nd gen mirrors on 1st gen.

well we are at the point of mocking up 2nd gen mirrors on my 68. I knew the door originally had a remote mirror so I was hoping the 2nd gen mirror cable would line up with existing holes ( at least close) no such luck. Thinking will have to move mirror back and lightly squeeze remote cable, drill new hole and weld up front hole. If anyone has experienced this and has a better idea please chime in before I continue. I am not sure I like the idea of moving the mirror back!!

I believe Mark Stielow modified them on one of his Camaro’s to delete the drivers side remote.

I always liked the bullet mirrors, would love to put a pair on my '69 Camaro but I'm not filling any holes and painting again. Are there any alternatives that would fit over the typical mounting holes for chrome mirrors? Like to see pix of your project when done.
