Default Advice on 5.3ls costs vs. LQ9

Does anyone here have any input on using a 5.3ls truck engine? I may have the option to pick one up pretty cheap, but I want 400 plus horsepower and am not sure if I would be better off just getting a LQ9 and adding a few tweaks to it. It would be going in my 70 rs Camaro with a 5 speed behind it.
Any input would be appreciated.

go with the LQ9 escalade motor. I have one in my gmc that has a tiny cam, long tubes and im laying down 316 at the rear wheels. I almost forgot to mention this is through a 14 bolt and a 4l80e trans.

I would say go to LS1tech.com

They do these swaps all day. I am going to run a 06 LQ9 in my 71 chevelle

Thanks for the input. It will be the LQ9, 5speed, 12 bolt.
