I wish it was a simple hose .

You are 100% correct!!! I didn't follow your knowledge when I should have. Took the tranny out 3 times total. Girl friend hates me right now. And I've lost some sleep over this.

This will never happen again if you are kind enough to respond to another post I make. Thank You very much!!!!

No there wasn't a hose off. As soon as I open the drain to the catch can the sound when away. I also drained the oil.

I have my valve cover vent hose going to the top of the catch can. The other hose goes to the intake behind the DBW. I did not use any hose clamps.

I just read the directions from the catch can site.

Did I mention how much my car rips!!!! I can't imagine after the dyno.

Default This is my engine noise!!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj-gg...e_gdata_player

I'm still not sure how to resolve it. I put a PCV after the the catch can and it helped but still get the noise at idle. I put the PCV before the catch can and it was just as loud. Also Im using a PCV that is not specific to my LQ9.

Jody or GregWeld any direction from either of you would be great!

You answered your own question the minute you took the cap off the valve cover/breather -- and heard that sucking sound.

In order for a PCV to work -- it needs to have INTAKE air.... AKA : A breather

Sounds to me like you have no intake (make up) air.

I have those carbon fiber valve covers and they have the cap to fill with oil on the drivers side. The passenger side has the PCV nipple or opening. Are you saying vent the valve cover?
Thank you for a fast reply that was cool !
Vent the intake!Just reread your post.

That was not my motor, just one I found on you tube with the same noise. Mine responds the same way when I pull a hose from my catch can. Here is a pic of my set up. LQ9 with catch can. Can I tee in to the line giong to the catch can and put a breather?
