Default Third Member Advice

Going to purchase my third member, appreciate any advice.

Currie 9" Carrier with Baer Floater.
Tremec Magnum with 2.66/1st and .62/6th
Engine: Not purchased yet but LS-7 650ish
335's on 18's

Typical mix of driving. Street/autoX/road course.

So far seems like 3.89 is most recommended ratio vs 3.70?
Appears the Wavetrac has a lifetime warranty vs. Truetrac?
Operationally - Wavetrac vs.Truetrac?

Thanks!!!

I had 3.73 with the same t56 and 315/30/18r and found 6th gear was not really usable under 70 mph. That said I went too high and installed 4.10 not knowing better, but doing it again I'd go for 3.89. Only recommendation I'd have is make sure your typical city/highway speed limits aren't too close to your shift points. Might not be a big issue with your big hp engine, but with my setup in my hilly neighborhood I felt I was downshifting on hills when at the 25mph limit.

Thanks !! Good advice, I will likely go with the 3.89. Do you have any thoughts about Wavetrac vs. Truetrac?

I'm probably not the best person to ask since I was just looking for a zero/low maintenance system for street driving. I haven't had any issues or noise with my Tru-trac, so no complaints.

From my research it's a good thing the Wavetrac has a lifetime warranty because more people have problems with then than Truetrac.

Strange has the S-trac which is another option. That's what I went with.

3.70s. Anything higher with that hp you will just spin the tires. I went from a 4.10s to 3.70s and now my 315/30/18s grip well all around. 6th gear cruising at 70mph will save your ears and get good gas mileage as well. Drop it to 4th gear and pull hard from 60 mph to 120mph. Remember when people are suggesting gears make sure you ask their tire size, trans and engine.

Appreciate the advice, agreed....does seem to be a lot of broken Wavetrac's out there.

At that power level, with that trans and wheel/tire package, 3:70 is perfect. Plenty of second gear for autox and plenty of 4th gear for most big tracks.

I like the Strac from strange. It has proven to be bulletproof. A customer has had one in service for 5 years now with zero issues or degradation of performance. The helix is higher on the Strac gears so the bias ration is higher than the wave or true tracs. The only downside is only available in 35 spline.
