Default Ok to Offset trans mount?

So here is what Im thinking....

I have 71 Firebird with a Gen V LT4/TKO600. I am looking at the Hooker BlackHeart 71222006HKR cross member. It is for a T56.

It will be roughly 5-1/2 too far back. I was thinking of making a plate to mount to the trans mount mounting surface and moving the mount back the 5-1/2 so the weight is straight down on the cross member instead of putting the plate below the mount which would put a twisting force on the cross member.

Thoughts?

Im curious of the twisting force on the aluminum tail housing. There is a boss off of the drivers side of the tail housing 6 back from the original mount location that could be utilized to stabilize the plate that would be directly above the the New mount location.

Hope this makes sense?

Thanks,
Stan
