Are you sure you want the XL? They were designed for newer Mustangs..

If you would like the regular Magnum (close or wide ratio) we can help you out.

The only difference is the tail. It puts the shifter closer to your hip. Why have a bent shifter to get to your hand if you don't need one?

Need to hack the floor up a lot to fit a T56 Magnum

I just built a 66 LS3/525 with a TKO600 built for a 66/67 Chevelle so the shifter come up in the OEM position. Perfect with my 3.73s. Had to modify tunnel substantially to fit.

Why a a T56 whr the TKO600? 5 speed fits better, cost less and IMO no need for 2 overdrive gears.

I'm heavily considering this

As Todd will undoubtedly say “cause it shifts like a dump truck transmission!!”

I’m fine with my TKO but I’m sure the T56-based items DO shift better.

Yes, I do prefer the T56.
You run 3.37 gear Vega?
I'm sure there will be some rework but that's ok

Do yourself a favor and get the T56 Magnum (close ratio 2.66) instead of the TKO600. Newer design, smoother shifting, will handle high RPM shifts... I'm pushing 1200rwhp thru a stock unit and shifting at 7800rpm without issues. Also offers VSS and Mechanical speedo outputs in addition to multiple shifter locations.

Is it harder to make fit.... meaning cutting the trans tunnel.... yes; however once you put the carpet back it isn't a big deal. I put one into my '69 Chevelle and won't regret it.
