I will say this about driving these track events -- THEY ARE FAR MORE FUN when you're not driving your limits! You can have just as good of a time almost "cruising" than you can working your butt off to stay on the track. Ask me how I know... LOL

Since nobody is paying -- there's no sponsors to appease - there's no fan base - there's no money to be gained... What's the point of abusing the equipment? If you're not just ripping every shift to redline - and banging gears and stressing tires and brakes... all that stuff tends to last a little longer making it a little less expensive of a hobby.

Save the equipment?? I have always had a problem
with that concept..Spin till you win... the more I break things the more
I think it might not be a bad Idea... I was showing a
couple of buddies my old mustang motor that I broke the
crank, spit two pistons out the bottom and split the back
of the block... more revs gave me a little more speed down
the front straight for the first two sessions.. after lunch
hammer down and then coast.. it put the car down for a
year... why??? just to get a few more miles per hour down
the front straight... It takes me a while to figure out
the easy things

^^^^This man needs a rev limiter!

Most importantly........set and sealed by someone in a manner that it cannot be tampered with.

You bust me up Bob!

So I had a conversation with my engine builder.... and he was real clear about it --- you can bring it in for a total refresh every 40 hours by taking it to redline every shift... or you can short shift it a bit and I'll see ya in a few years. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Like Charley told me from day one.... we're just out here having fun -- not much point in just abusing the stuff.

I thought "SIEG" on the helmet gave it away.
