Default Fuel Stabilizers, to use or not to use?

Quick Background,

I have a 98 Silverado 1500 4x4 5.7 with 14k miles. It has only had 90+ octane in it since new. I just had to replace the factory fuel pump and fuel filter due to large amounts of residue/gunk in the tank(tank was cleaned also). I only drive it about once a week on nice days. Should I use a fuel stabilizer in the tank or how should I store it between drives. I always fill the tank completely before it goes back in the garage.

Thanks, Jarrod

Absolutely. The cost of the additives is small. Fuel starts to oxidize and cause all the problems you described. Ethanol is supposed to be even worse and seeing where your from I would bet you don't get of an option when it comes to that. The use of stabilizer is very effective.

Modern ethanol gas blends are so unstable that they will start breaking down in as little as 30 days. So unless you burn out a whole tank in 30 days you need add stabilizer. It has gotten so bad that I put stabilizer in my mower gas cans at the time I fill them. I have tried several different brands of stabilizer over the years and have had the best results with Startron.

Thanks, Guys! I always use pumps that say no ethanol but I am sure there is still alot of additives in today's gas. I appreciate the advice.
