Default A few of my past Projects - A retrospective

I started my professional automotive career 30 years ago this week. I came to GM as a Summer Intern to work on the GM Show Room Stock Camaro / Firebird race program. Also that summer I helped build the first 81LE Camaro and Firebirds in the Van Nuys assembly plant.

I have had a great career so far and not all at GM. I have bounded around a bit have had a chance to work on a lot of interesting projects.

I put together the attached slide show awhile back for a SAE meeting to help pitch my book. I have updated it to show most every car I have every owned or worked on to present.

Off memory this is the list of cars I have owned or significantly contributed to. Also shown in the video are a number of GM projects I have contributed to.

71 Mach 1
77 Triumph TR7
70 AMX 390 Auto
70 AMX 360 4spd
71 Javelin 360 4spd
66 Ford Step side
69 Datsun 1600 Roadster
69 Triumph TR6
67 Mustang Fastback 289
66 Mustang Coupe 289
66 Lincoln Continental
67 Mustang 390 4spd
67 Mustang Fastback 351C 4brl (was going to be the first pro-touring project)
69 Boss 302
73 Vette 454
70 Boss 302 (college car)
84 SVO Mustang
66 Mustang Fastback 289 4spd (drove it to Detroit for 1st Summer internship @ GM Tech Center)
69 Camaro RS
69 Camaro RS
69 Camaro
69 Camaro (first One Lap of America car)
69 Camaro
88 Chevy Truck
95 Chevy Truck
67 Camaro (Red Witch)
69 Camaro (Thrasher)
69 Camaro
69 Camaro (Mule)
64 Chevelle (Malitude)
69 Camaro (Camaro X)
69 Camaro (Jack Ass)
69 Camaro (Red Devil)
67 Camaro (Mayhem)
69 Camaro (Hellfire)
69 Camaro (Gunner)

I thought I would share it with my Lateral-G buddies. Sorry for no audio for most of it and a couple longer videos.

People keep asking me what I’m doing next… I’m not sure. I want to finish Lillard’s Riv and sort it out from there.

Going into the holiday weekend I though people might get a kick out of this. I presented this to my staff this week and some of my newer employees did not know my full background. I have been very luck to do what I enjoy. But looking though this list of projects I tend to reflect on all the deal lines and events I have hit. I could have never of done all this cars without a lot of people help and support. I would like to thank my Lateral – G friends for all the support and encouragement over the years!

Have a great weekend.

Mark

Hey Mark, thanks for posting up the retrospective! What a journey you've had for sure...

Curious, what years did you compete at the High School Drag at KCIR? I'm guessing we are about the same age and pretty sure I would have been out there at the same time these were taken...

It was 1982 and 1983. Like a lot of people I started out drag racing. I used my Dads KZ1000 to win it in 1983 because my AMX was hit on my way to school.
