Default My 67 Eternity Project Camaro

**Disclaimer**
I'm a first timer and i'm doing this out of my garage...so many "redo's" and progress which seems to crawl at times...Actually i've been on this project for some time so i have enough information to share and hopefully inspire myself to keep going...

Starting Platform:
67 RS/SS Camaro i bought when i was in College
Dependable but looked good from 20 feet

Tore it down in 2001 to PT mod it...well marriage three boys later the project was "postponed" for some time. Here's the mods...scope changes and timing ultimately caused some further delays.

Front Clip: originally have one of the first Art Rassmusen's clips which i believe Wayne Duo managed after Art passed away....Now i have the DSE front assembly (scope creep....if my wife new what i had invested just in front clips...welll it wouldn't be pretty)
Rear Suspension: DSE suspension
Engine: LSX Block still in work...plans are a 700 fwhp N/A
Tranny: T56 Magnum sitting in the corner of the garage waiting
Radiator: PRC radiator and support assembly with dual fans
Vaporworx tank: shipping in a couple weeks...
Wilwood pedal & dual mstr cyl: should arrive next week
9" with 3:70 Wavetrac Diff: sitting in a box
Brakes: Baer 14" rotors with 6P calibers all four corners sitting in boxes in my garage
Wiring: I'm leaning towards the ISIS system...engine harness ??
ECU: ...still undecided

Ok here's some pictures

after removing some more rust...

the first front clip mock up now obsolete

going back together

more progress pictures to come....

I'm really bouncing back and forth on the color scheme....i was leaning towards the 2007 vette Lemans blue (which is quite dark) with the same z28 stripes but now i'm really considering the lighter earlier vintage lemans blue with a bumble bee stipe up front... don't have to decide for a couple more months....
I plan on finishing the bottom and painting it a gun metal grey in the next couple months....

ok here's some more pictures regarding some mods....i wanted to put a cross over member between the frame rails and i didn't want to pay for it so designed my own....i also wanted to integrate the transmission X-member and keep in flush with the floor so i can snug the exhaust up tight...

Making the loop.....tied to stay with the contour of the tunnel

View from the top

view from the bottom...

extremely happy the way it came out....it took two attempts to get what i want....

thanks Ron,

Im really happy the way it worked out the middle piece that drops out..i placed 2 cap screws on each side of it and resessed them so you can't see any bolts...took me awhile to fab it up but i finally got there....

i gotta really give some credit to a local shop in working with me on the tranny & shifter...had to mock up everything prior to welding it up and these guys "loaned" me a Magnum T56 & a couple shifter plates for trial fits....suppose he felt like he lived close enough that there wasn't alot of risk....besides he said he's driven by my house several times seeing me work on the camaro and was interested in what i was doing..... Needless to say i bought a tranny and shifter from these guys....

Next I'll post some pictures on how i smoothed the firewall...i just finished touching up some spots.....

ok i'm going for the smooth look but with one exception....i plan on using bulkhead connectors for the engine harness and the ISIS harness therefore recessed the area behind the intake manifold so i can hide as much of the wiring as possible...

cutting out the necessary items to get a flat surface.

transfered my cardboard cut out to sheetmetal

Cutout for the tunnel....this is where i had to fit the new tranny and decide how far i had to move the tunnel..

with the tunnel adjusted i started piecing the recessed panel in to get an idea how it was going to line up...

note from my wife....

solution...so i put them to work on the Camaro..

I think it would've gone much faster if i had any sort of welding skills but i finally made it through and I like the way it came out...
