Default Q

I started to build another FE this time a 410 and after getting the runnaround from shop for 6 months I found that not only did the shop ruin one block but all 3 blocks I had left! Since they were my last 3 FE blocks I finally threw in the towel on a FE.

I had spent a half fortune on a new Gear Vendors, New Transmission and a custom converter, and so much more.

I bought a 2018 F150 with 5.0 Coyote 10 spd with 9k miles but truck had such minimal damage I fixed it in just a couple days to the point one could not tell where damage was. Loved the truck but the low end power was nothing like my experience with the 3.5 Eco. Having already installed 3 different Eco engines really wanted to go the 5.0 Route.

I heard rumblings that Ford Performance had 5 2018-19 Raptor 450 HP
510 TQ crate engines. After a bit of research I was able to buy #4 of the only 5 sold.

So the plan once again changes to the Raptor crate engine and a 10 spd auto.

These engines will put down 490 RWHP with just a tune. Truck being down 6 months so far am getting tired of it sitting.

So much for the 5.0 Idea! Was willing to run one if I could do it with 10spd auto but it just never came to be. Not only that but it's what so many others are doing. The cost of making a 5.0 Run with the Eco is probably 7000.00

Only allowing one pic at a time. Bought this truck for the Engine and Transmission but was just too nice to part out.

The 1500HP daily driver truck is very slow progress but at least engine is mounted. Hoping tomorrow to start on the custom headers.

If interested I would consider selling my 2.7 conversion. Just too many irons in the fire. The 2.7 is in truck and I have had it running. It was meant to be just engine and transmission and maybe keep the TPMS. Rest would remain as is.

Quickie update on the '66 F100 Raptor

engine, transmission, exhaust, new 27 gallon fuel tank all in. Will have 46 gallon fuel capacity for those long hauls. Shooting for 900 mi per fill at a minimum. Now working on getting all the Raptor components to fit underhood. Lots of plumbing with twin turbo's. Added a 83% larger Garrett cooler. Hoping to have first test drive within 30days.

Just over 21 years of ownership of truck. Have not driven it since April 4th 2019

Thanks much!

Mostly have all core support, inner fenders fitted. Not much room underhood as engine is very tall because of all the turbo plumbing.
Also had to rotate battery 90 deg to clear radiator. Not a lot of room to fit Battery Junction Box, Pcm and all the wiring. Already had to make harness out of OEM 2018-20 F150 and too much work to try to make each wire perfect length and to put components in different location. Installing those components where wire length will allow. That’s stock F150 location.
No kits avail for the dual fuel system 3.5 EcoBoost.

Now it will take a lot of metal finish work to pretty up the sheet metal.

Few goals:
600 HP 600TQ @ tire on E50 (pump gas here)
25 MPG @ 65 mph
11.50 or better 1/4 mi at 120+ mph 1/4
900 mi per fuel fill
Would love to see 100 mph in 1/8 but don’t think enough power for that!

As in photo I added a 16:1 Redhead steering box.
I wanted to keep the Twin I Beam suspension so can only go so low
On ride height. No way was I going CRown Vic stuff.
No $$ for full chassis from RS.
