Default Why I love Off Road

This is where I rode for 30+ years and Rory exemplifies why it is so special…….thanks to the exceptional job videography.

Rory is definitely a natural talent and has ridden a little bit of everything from Baja to Trials.

Riding dirt bikes is one of my absolute favorite hobbies. It's right up there with cars. I grew up here in SoCal...great up going to Glamis, Ocotillo Wells, etc. etc.

Where is this video at? To me, it looks just like the Mammoth area...I've never ridden in terrain like that, but it looks like a blast!

Amazing place to ride, I guess you never look at a tree when going through there. I just bought me a Beta Evo trials bike to try out, rode it first time this weekend, it's challenging and fun and totally new from riding desert races.
Doubt I'll ever do this though:

China Hat, 20 miles east of Bend, OR.

Here's another view of the same area with an old 50 something riding a 2011 KTM 300XC with the power valve adjusted in the pipey mode which is not right, but working the clutch every corner is good fun.

I started riding and racing there in the early 80's until I hung it up 3 years ago. We rode mainly in the late winter/early spring when we could catch it with damp soil conditions........doesn't get any better than those trails IMO. Typically 3rd to 5th gear with occasional 6th gear straights. The 300XC with it's close ratio gear box was good for 85 mph in 6th.

Target fixation can be fatal at China Hat!

Did you say Beta?

Absolutely love it and still have it!

That area in the first vid looks killer!! A good rider helps to make the trail look great but I'd still have fun having a crack out there

Thanks for the kickstart, Sieg. I'm going to ride my mountain bike this morning--perhaps I'll make some 4-stroke noises while doing so...
