I'm in the beginning planning stages of painting my 69 camaro. I really like the jetstream blue that is available on 08-09 vettes. I want something slightly different but not so different like lime green or pink we saw in the 80's

I plan on getting one of the companies on this forum to design/sketch spme photos/renderings with color, striping etc.

How do you guys think this color would look on a 69 camaro?

thanks,

I really like that color to, I think it would look very good on a 69. stripes could be either pearl white, black metallic or some sort of gray metallic.

thanks guys. As far as stripping I was thinking one black stripe down the middle kind of like the motion stripe.

if you do a black stripe on jetstream blue make sure it is a black metallic or pearl not a plain black.

i like the rendering with the single black stripe.. it ties the wheels into the design..and i would run a red pinstripe around the stripe..that would look hot!

Definitely the black stripe. Have you tried making the stripe a little wider?

Jay Hilliard

I have not tried a wider stipe. Keeping it the width of cowl seems to be a good wih. Currently there is a silver pin stripe around the black stripe.

Hmm, I like the no stripe version, or perhaps one with a rally sport stripe.

I too would like to see the black stripe a little wider. Larry over at P.T. has a cool idea going that would look good just a bit more narrow on your car. Just a suggestion.

Is the black stripe a semi flat or shiny black? I like the accent white pinstripe idea around the black, another option would be a shade of silver pinstripe?

I look at that color blue and it looks real close to what I know as Petty Blue, I have always liked that color, Cool.

Thats gonna be a sweet ride!

Thanks Nova. The black will be shiny and its currently a silver pinstripe. It may look white, but it will be silver.

Nice work Ben!

I am a little torn here! Normally I like the no stripe, less is more, clean look...especially with all the factory trim you have on the car...that blue just might be enough. And with the black seats, spoiler, grill and perhaps under hood...I think the wheels look fine!

But then I look at the rendering with the stripe and I like it too! But have to agree with the others that it looks a little narrow. I know thats as wide as you can go without coming down the sides of the center of the hood....perhaps a differant view would help?

I guess it all comes down to the look you want.

It'd look fine with that width of stripe on the hood if you were to run an SS style hockey stick stripe down the sides like the Motion cars:hail: that'd look well trick.:unibrow:

I just had my 67 done in nassau blue which is a two stage compared to the three stage that the jetstream blue is. Also decided I liked it a little better after seeing the two in person. Also decided to go with a custom pearl white for the stripes. I think it turned out pretty good.

Here are a few pics fresh from paint. I also plan to change the wheels up sometime in the future to something a little bigger.

Thanks, this nassau blue is a little different from the older color. For example.

Can't really tell too much from the pictures but the new one changes colors much more, its really similar to jetstream.

I like the rendering that Ben did for you.
I also like the black stripe. I think it may look a little better an inch or so wider than the cowl induction hood. Just my opinion.
GOOD LUCK!!!

How about leaving the stripe width the same, but having a thin blue stripe down the center? Something like .75"-1"...outlined in silver of course.

Maybe it is the drawing but the cowl stripe narrows the car. I think it is a good color scheme. Just like you said different but not too different. Personally I would choose a different wheel. Maybe same wheel but without the fasteners. I think they tend to distract the eyes from the beautiful form of the car.

Thanks for the input guys. I like #2 alot also I will get Ben to remove the black off the cowl panel and just have the black starting on hood.

The rims are the Budnik Velocity R's. I assume you can get te fasteners powder coated black. I like these rims since the first time I saw them on Dale Jr's camaro that DSE rebuilt.
