Im building a resto-mod pro-touring 67 GTO that i'm looking at putting a very nice suspension setup on (no air-ride) that will give handling & skidpad G's comparable to a stock C5/C6 corvette.
Engine combo is a procharged LS2/T56 setup which is the easy part since I own a LSx performance based shop. This is my first a-body build so trying to get peoples experiences on the parts im thinking about using.
So my question is
BMR will cut me a killer deal on their complete suspension setup since im a dealer/distributor and plan on getting this car SEMA show & magazine ready.
But I was planning on running the SC&C Street Comp AFX front suspension and then BMR rear upper/lower arms/upgrades, as well as a nice front/rear sway bar setup.
Here is BMR's A-body parts line up:

They are offering me a new billet aluminum 1" drop spindle they will be debuting soon that is not on the market along with their complete upper/lower front tubular control arms /w tall ball joint setup, lowering springs, front/rear sway bar setup, upper/lower rear control arms, control arm mount braces, bilstein shocks front/rear
So am I making a mistake going with this setup over the complete popular SC&C setup?

so bmr is making a spindle huh?...
they used to maybe still do sell a their front suspension package with the AFX spindles also:rolleyes: hmm i wonder how much different they will be from the AFX spindles...
i personally would go with SC&C and stick with the AFX's, best spindles for stock sub/full frame cars on the market.

Making your A-body perform comparable or even better than a C5 is actually not that difficult when the right components are used. We were invited to a handling challenge by Super Chevy magazine recently and brought a customers '71 Chevelle to the event. It was equipped with BMR's Level 3 Handling Package HPP014 which includes the products mentioned above along with a set of tall ATS spindles. The benchmark vehicle of all things was a C5 Corvette. The Chevelle had no problem outhandling the Corvette and consistently turned quicker lap times the whole day. You can read the Super Chevy article HERE (http://www.superchevy.com/features/chevellemontecarlo/sucp_0902_bmr_1971_chevy_chevelle/index.html) and view some of the track videos HERE (http://www.youtube.com/user/BMRFabrication).
The kit components are matched and really do compliment each other. We generally keep all components on hand and currently have 20 sets of ATS spindles on order. Once these come in we can resume shipping suspension kits. (If necessary, we can ship the kits minus spindles if you prefer not to wait or wish to source the spindles independently)

Loved the vids!!! A lil coasting through the chicanes, was a lil light on the throttle on the exit. but hey :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB0wXBixSBQ&feature=channel_page
Bet the velle was fast at the straights. Prolly much faster than the vet. Woulda been nice to see the vets progress though the turns also. Umm, from the sounds of the chevelle it prolly out powered the vet?
Did you guys put them both on the circular skid pad though. Thats gonna show some suspension prowess VS horsepower gains through the short track? JR

The motor was a mild 383...about 425 horsepower at the crank. Not much different than the Vette.
The BMR Chevelle pulled 0.93g on the skidpad. The C5 Corvette pulled 0.90g. Both of those numbers seem a little low to me, but the track was really dusty/sandy and the track surface was not the greatest. However, both vehicles were tested on the same day at the same skidpad by the same driver, so it was a very fair comparison.

Mary Pozzi drove the BMR Chevelle on all of the autocross videos. I have no complaints about her driving. I drove the Chevelle through the same course and her times were a heck of a lot better than mine.
By the way, those tests and videos were done with the stock steering system. The car has a Flaming River power steering box now. Look for an upcoming article in Chevy High Performance with new times.
