Man I love the fit and finish!
I had a local carbon guy make up one based off of a Rushforth design that is an inch shorter for that very reason

Congratulations on a exciting time. Enjoy the hell out of her. The color is amazing!!!!
Thank you for the compliments. I'll be able to auto cross at the next event. Didn't want to thrash the car with only a hundred miles on her.
Trevor's build has actually already started. I'll prompt him again to begin his build thread. He's really busy with school and karate. The summer is right around the corner and he's going to be spending a lot of time working on his car. He only has four years to finish it. But seriously, he will be much more involved in the build of his car than we were in building mine. Lots of busted knuckles.
Trevor is really stoked now that he is a celebrity. Got his picture in Camaro Performers.

WOW! A little over a year on the road since that awesome shop Best of Show Coachworks completed my car. Thanks for the memories guys. :hail:
Nothing particularly exciting to report other than I'm working on 14,000 miles. Just can't drive Alchemy enough.
I did make a cosmetic change to the car engine bay recently. I was always envious of the Katech setup Aqua Girl and Bad Penny have.
Also, put in a Momo steering wheel.
Here's some cell phone pics.

Kind of an update:
Speed Tech will be installing a LS7 motor and a McLeod RST clutch once Texas Speed sends them the completed engine.
Derek, of Texas Speed, sent a couple of pics of the crank being balanced. The block is third in line before it gets into the CNC machine for blueprinting.

Things are moving right along. Texas Speed will likely have finished the motor in a week or two. Then it's off to SpeedTech for the install. :excited:
BTW, installing a McLeod RST with aluminum flywheel, too.

The humps/towers in the oil gallery, what is them for? Is it for cylinder shutdown stuff on a Stock engine? Since it looks to be over 4 of the cylinders lifters. Do they pull oil from there?
By the way, a very Nice Camaro, it looks "beefy" :D And Nice color :)

Here's a better vid.
Arizona All Gens Camaro club had a great BBQ and dyno today at Piccione's Performance. Rick said the 538 HP number was significantly lower than I'd see on other dynos for some reason. It was a Mustang MD. Why such a spread on numbers for different dynos?

Depends on the type of dyno be it a load bearing dyno(Mustang), inertia dyno(dynojet), or dyno packs that bolt to the hubs of the vehicle. They all work in different ways. What a dyno should be used for is tuning purposes. It's best to stay with the same dyno or type of dyno when doing changes and tuning or else what you're experiencing will happen and it will be difficult to quantify any adjustments/modifications.
Car looks great and 538 rwhp is a lot of fun
Bryan O
12-08-2013, 08:36 AM
Thanks for the info Trey. The 538 is the hp at the crank.
It's interesting. Before we started, Rick told me the numbers would be low. Comparatively speaking. He estimated the numbers to be about 17% lower than I'd see on other dynos. Indeed, the Texas Speed "published" number of 630HP is 17% higher than 538. I'm not sure rwhp numbers were. I remember a couple guys saying it was slightly lower than the '13 ZL1.
I hear ya about the need for consistency in tuning. Makes a lot of sense.

Really liked your build thread. Most of what you've done is what I have on my planned build if I can find a project car to start with. Just spent over 2 hours reading the thread and making notes to review against what I've planned. It will be great to watch Trevor's car come together. He is really lucky to have a 67 for a first car. He'll be the coolest kid in school when it's done.

It's definitely laser straight. They finished it off pretty good, too. The "before" picture you see really below is rather misleading. I post it just to show off the buffing/polishing I've done to the stripe. :D I only needed a medium polish to remove most of the light defects.
That question mark thingy you see is a ~1 inch piece of teflon tape.

Well, not much new to say about this car. It's just "another DSE catalog car" as one of our more illustrious members just called it.
At the moment, I haven't got the time to restore all the pictures of this tread since Photof#@kit destroyed it thus opening the gates to all sorts of usurpers.
So, here she sits. THE one and only authentic Project Alchemy in her current form.
