Moving out a project car to make room for a new purchase. Many of you have seen the car on the cover of Camaro Performer's magazine a few years back. The car has been painted by Best of Show Coachworks, and is stunning - a brilliant metallic red that is extremely striking. Straight body with fresh panels, Lateral Dynamics 3 Link rear suspension installed, mini-tubed to accept 335 tires. Car is a roller, no interior, drivetrain, or brakes. Will update with a list of items later this weekend, as well as some pictures of the build and recent shots as well. Market for cars is weak right now, everyone knows that, so the asking price is a very realistic $20k, you couldn't touch the car for this price if wanting to build a new car. I was compelled to close shop a few years back and as such, this is one of the few Lateral D second gens in existence. If you want to run with Jim Shipka's One Lap Camaro, Steve Rupp's Bad Penny, and beat the paint off of virtually every other car out there, this would make an extremely compelling package to finish. Car is in San Diego area. If finishing a project car isn't what you are capable of, I can certainly help by advising a highly capable shop that can finish the car for you, and insure that the remainder of selected components will result in a extremely capable and pleasureable car. All the hard work is done, just needs to be assembled and enjoyed.

Please PM for more information, and include an e-mail address that will accept photographs.

Dang, every time you sell a car, I find myself wanting to buy it. I have enough parts all I would need would be an engine. Ah, who am I kidding, I already said that when I bought your Mustang.

This car is worth every bit of the 20K being asked. I'm sure someone is going to step up soon!

Scotty, if I don't get what I want for it, and keep it, it will almost certainly get one of your front setups. Would be a practically unbeatable combination.

Thanks for the compliments.

I would need to get rid of a car first, I don't suppose you want a new Mustang instead of that El Camino? :unibrow:

Mark,

In case you missed it, here is a shot of a 12 bolt Lateral Dynamics 3 link in action, at the 2011 Targa Newfoundland. My driver is coming out of a corner in a residential sector of Gander. The suspension really works, especially in the rain !

http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae230/cheezer_01/Targa%20Camaro/Targa%202011/BitchinCamarocrop.jpg

Good luck with the sale and thanks again for the excellent design.

That..... Is..... Completely..... FANTASTIC!!!! I hadn't seen that shot. I recall working with Matt on the rear end one Sunday afternoon, was the only 12 bolt 3 Link we made, so the team could fit into a specific rule/class for the Targa. That picture put a smile on my face and has me giggling all afternoon, thanks for sharing, and thanks for the endorsement!!!! Glad to see you are enjoying the car and product.

Thanks, really, thanks a million!
Mark

Oh Vince...... There is another 3-Link project just waiting for you, can you hear it calling????

Did not want to hijack the thread, but I guess it will be called a bump instead.

My upper link has the pinion angle at 2 degrees up since my engine is two down. We had to cut the link and shorten it because, as we were warned, mine was a prototype "one off", and may not be as perfected as the Ford 9 inch version.

Hi folks,

Just wanted to update this sale offer. I have had a lot of interest in the car but no one purchasing so far. I haven't been pushing it at all though, other than replying to pm's and e-mails, very consumed with work.

On top of that, my wife had a serious medical emergency just over two weeks ago, and while she will most likely be fine, it has really opened our eyes on everything in our current lives, definitely a shock that has us both evaluating everything. So, we have decided to dramatically drop the price of the car in order to move it out of our lives, and into a happy new project owner. Actually downsizing a LOT of things, which is healthy for us, it's not about the money as much as it is about simplifying - we were extremely lucky with this episode and realize that life is really short, and we want to live it to the fullest starting today.

New sale price - $15k, firm. Yes, it is a tough market right now, but the car is worth far more than this regardless. I'd probably crush it before taking less, so unless you have a very compelling offer below this, don't offer.

Thanks, hug your family and tell them you love them.
Mark

Also still have the 68 Satellite......

I'll reply to all of the PM's tomorrow in order. For everyone, here is a very high level overview of the car in teh spirit of full disclosure:

Crisp, clean body completed by Best of Show Coachworks includes following work:
• Fresh sheet metal throughout, new fenders, door skins, quarter panels, steel cowl hood, front and rear valence, etc. Factory floors are rust free.
• Re-pop RS nose perfectly fitted and finished, mating line for upper and lower pieces has been smoothed. All new chrome, urethane nose, etc.
• Smoothed firewall painted body color.
• Painted in 2006 Corvette “Monterrey Red Metallic.” Paint is gorgeous, really pops under the sun, and goes straight dark in off light. Straight, excellent gaps and fitment, super nice work. Incredible.
• Undercarriage is undercoated.
• Car has been mini-tubbed to accept 335 rear tires under stock quarters.
• Car has a full set (all four windows) of new glass in boxes needing installation. Includes brand new power window regulators.
• New front and rear bumpers, front and rear light trim, lenses, etc.
Suspension and other items:
• Lateral Dynamics 3-Link Rear suspension installed. Car is currently fitted with a demo (fully functional) rear housing, new housing is 95% fabricated and only needs final welding. Will include all new bushings and rod ends, etc.
• Rear end has axles for 59.5 hub to hub width. Does NOT have third member.
• Front frame has been completely seam welded on jig, and powder coated. Setup for coil over front shocks with upper mounts similar to the units developed by ATS. Has Lateral Dynamics UCA’s. Currently sits on old stock LCA’s. Stock spindles. Some steering gear included (Idler and Pitman arms, etc).
• “Street” six point roll cage. Cage will not meet the specific requirements of NASA or SCCA due to bend in main hoop. Cage was fit as tight as possible to the roof for maximum headroom. Bolt on “through bars” from firewall to front frame. DOM .120” wall tubing used.
• Front and rear lights, outer door handles, other small items also included.
What it needs to be completed:
• Front suspension could be completed by simple modification of aftermarket tubular LCA’s, required for lower coil over mounting points.
• Steering box and remainder of tie rods, etc. are needed.
• Alternative would be to install complete aftermarket front frame such as DSE, etc.
• Needs shocks and springs. Needs all brakes including M/C, etc.
• Full drivetrain needed. Does not include driveshaft, etc.
• Needs third member, 31 spline axles included.
• Many of the original interior pieces are included for fitment, etc, but all would need to be refurbished or replaced.

Thanks,
Mark

I have seen this car up close, inside and out and on a lift and it is every bit as good as it looks in those pictures - typical BOS over-the-top bodywork, prep, paint and finish. Also, being Mark - you know the suspension was well planned. Mini-tubbed, smooth firewall, 3-link..... I can only dream of having found a first gen in this exact condition of build and for this price when I was looking.

Guys, if you are in the market for one of these and want the hard work already done for you, this is an absolute BARGAIN for $15k and you will kick yourself once you find out what you passed on. I doubt very much that you could get body and paint of this quality for this price, let alone everything else you are getting. No paint jail - it's done. Just buy it already!

Well speaking of ethical, the most ethical way to sell the car is to line the buyer up tallest to shortest. The TALL guy would get first shot. But you decided to go by who sent the first PM. :D :D :D

Hey Roger...glad to see you are good spirited about it:cheers: When I first read this post I was thinking I still would have had first shot....(or at least a shot at first shot lol) But then I remembered you stepping out of your 67 camaro last year at GoodGuys Columbus and shaking your hand... :wow: 6-3 doesnt seem so tall next to you...
I havent offered this up on the sites yet because of everything happening so quickly. But my 70 camaro "Frustration" will be for sale if thats of any interest to you. Has all the original sheet metal and is 100% rust free. Has been on and off the rotisserie and sits in black epoxy primer right now. AME front clip, doesnt have to go with the car.

You could... bring Marks car this way if your going to Columbus this year  .... and take my 70 back with you?? Ron Knows the car and there is a start to a build thread on it linked above. If non of this transpires I will still see you in Columbus if your going. Ron and I are driving out there from Indy. TTYS

I bought a 70 last week, When I found the car you wound up getting I put it up for sale to see if there was any interest. In reality you just saved me a bunch of money. Kenny and I were talking about putting it together and reselling it. I have a few vendor ideas I'm trying to test their products before i put them on customer cars and I''m looking at getting a flat rate install price to install different suspension companies products and that is what I thinking of doing with that car. Lord knows I have way to many cars any ways. I sold my 67 and bought 3 cars, that is not narrowing up the heard if I keep that going.

I might be able to bring the car but would not know for sure until late next week when we start loading. I think we are going to be pretty close to full. I'm hauling the 48 out to Columbus and an super nice 62 bubble top for a local guy and the display stuff for Marquez Design. Then a few frames for us. My plan is just to haul some cars for money and set up a booth for shade and if we have room try to promote our products.

See ya in 2 weeks

Can you get the car moved to Bakersfield? Can you pick up the car in Columbus sometime over that weekend during the show? With where I'm going to load it I don't want to have to off load almost everything. So Columbus is really my only option to off load.

It's not so much the trip, cuz yes it would be about 6 hours each way out of my way. It's the fact i would have to unload about 4 cars to load car in the trailer where it's spot wold be. So loading up here heading south, then unload 4 cars and reload 5 cars is just not productive.

I haul don't just haul cars and I don't do it full time. I take a bit more care and do a bit more planning trying to get everything in it's best spot.
