Can anyone tell me that if i have a 6L90 trans in my car (69 camaro) will a 4L80 fit with no trans tunnel modifications?

Here's a pic showing the difference between the two. I'm assuming that there are tunnel mods now to get that huge trans in there. If you have the 6L90 now the 4L80 is much smaller. Why are you switching?

Thanks for the pics,im hearing the 6L90 might not be the best auto trans for a LS-9. Sounds like the ratio in the 4L80 is alittle better and definitely stronger,so i think i will be switching . Dont want to be taking the trans out in a year when it breaks.

yeah, the 1-2 gear drop is huge, and the 4L80E's can be built to bulletproof status. Bottom line, it you have already modded your car for the 6L90 the 4L80E will have a lot of room. I can't think of an area of the trans that is larger on the 4L80E as compared to the six speed auto.

6L80 is not as strong as the 6L90, at least on the output side, but if a built 6L80 will run a few hundred hi 9, lo 10 passes in an LS7 Vette, it cant be too bad. :)
