I would like to install a on.off switch to prevent theft. I want to have a cut off switch to an electrical source that will not let the car start unless the switch is turned on. Any idea where i can bypass a source to have this work without the thief knowing how to get past it? Will bypassing the solenoid wire to the starter work?

Any set up by sponsors made to have a little more sophistication than just an on/off switch? I know fesler has a kill switch, but it is a time switch, which kills the car after 90 seconds.. any other takers who make a quality set up?

If you have a MSD their install instructions say you can put (depending on how it is hooked to your distributor) a toggle switch on the white or violet wire. I did it and hid the toggle..When toggle is off car will crank but won't start

My car also came with a wire running from a momentery switch through a relay to the back of the start position on my Ign and you have to hold the momentery switch for it to even crank . Hope it helps

I went with a RFID kit from Advanced key. No more ignition.

If you aren't within 6 feet of the car with the RFID it will never start or open.

The MSD provides the opportunity to easily install a theft deterrent kill switch (Figure 4).

White Wire Trigger
When using the WHITE wire to trigger the MSD, install a switch across the magnetic pickup

VIOLET wire to ground. When the VIOLET wire is grounded, the vehicle will crank but not
start.

Magnetic Pickup Trigger
When using the mag pickup to trigger the MSD, install a switch to the WHITE wire and the
other side to ground. When

Here's something to look at they have several systems.

I use the second function on my Viper remote to kill the battery. It keeps the power on to the stereo and alarm etc.

i dont have power locks or windows...

If you would like to add power door locks we have our keyless entry kit (p/n MI 700) that we can easily add an ignition kill feature by adding a relay to the unit and with our door lock actuator install kit (p/n MI 910) you can easily install the actuators in your doors. The MI 700 uses a keyfob to lock and unlock the doors. When the unit is in the lock mode the igintion kill is activated so your car won't crank. You can also add our electric trunk latch release kit (p/n MI 800) to this unit and open the trunk via the remote keyfob or by push button installed inside the car.

No it comes with its own computer in the kit. You will need power locks though. I got mine from Modo Innovations and the Advanced Key i ordered direct.

I won't be adding power locks.

I don't have a msd 6al, just msd distributor and blaster coil.

If I'm really concerned, I pull my fuel pump relay. If they manage to hot wire the car, they'll get about 100 yards and be screwed. If you have fuel injection, they won't get anywhere.

Seen this system on another site. Seems pretty good

"Arrow Track GPS. Its a live tracking GPS system for cars, trailers, boats, RV's. There is no waiting for police, You track your vehicle yourself on a private Internet account. It covers the North American Continent including Canada.

You can track and keep an eye on your ride from another state if you want too. Best of all the GPS calls you when a problem occurs. So there is no waiting to discover somethings wrong. I put a Geofence around my car for added protection, so if my car gets a 1/4 of a mile away from where it should be, I get a second call from the GPS.

The system is backed by 27 satelittes and communicates through first tier digital cellular networks. Its a GSM Quadband. There is no monthly fee. The first year of air time is free with purchase. You pay 99.95 a year starting in the second year for service. Best of all its an American product"

That's looks good... as long as they don't find the GPS antenna.

A simple alert to your phone when your door is open or detects the car being moved is really all that is needed. You'll know instantly if someone is messing with your car.

I just leave the keys hanging in the ignition... the smart guys figure it's a trap and leave it alone.

That... or none of my crap is worth stealing.

sounds like a nice set up, does it include any out puts to lock / unlock doors etc, what about an actual kill switch and I assume it notifies you by e-mail.

You have a power wire supplying power to the dist. Disconnect that wire and run a wire from each end of the connection to a hidden switch. This will kill power to the ignition until the switch is closed. If you decide at a later date you don't want the switch, simply unplug it and reconnect the original connecton.
