View Full Version : anyone using Bolt-on front Coil-Over-Shock conversion for early Mustang and Cougars?

I am thinking on a Coil-Over-Shock conversion for my 69 Cougar.
Since my roller control arms and the adjustable strut rods are brand new (from Opentrackerracing) I dont want to buy a complete new front suspension.
I found a conversion at Total Control Products but I dont know how good is that system compare to the "full" Coil-Over conversion systems.

This is the coil-over shock I am thinking on.
Does anyone have experience with them?

I designed and built my own version of that. I wanted to use an AFCO shock and I wanted to use a longer stroke on my shock. But the concept is similar.

Function of that setup should be just fine, but a good shock and spring will do about the same. except for adjusting spring preload.

What are the goals for the car?

Actually I just want a superior handling car on the street which is able to go and perform good on the track as well. It will be used mostly on the street. My wife does not like the "dump truck" feeling so that is why I was thinking to go with adjustable front set up. :D

TCP is a Chassisworks brand that deals exclusively in Ford muscle components. This kit was developed as an economical alternative to our TCP FCOC-FD kit.

One of the cool things about this kit is it will fit your stock arms AND, should you choose to upgrade later, our double adjustable upper arms. You can dress it up a little bit under the hood with our optional polished billet stainless steel cap. It hides the grease zerk. There are two different ride height ranges available and a large selection of springs.
