Has anyone seen pictures of this car before? It looks a lot like the body kit that titojones has been building. I found the pictures on www.68rscamaro.com (http://www.68rscamaro.com)

I don't care for it either. The big spoiler looks a little ricey to me.

those rear taillights do look a lot like ATS body kit pictures. All in all it is different after giving it a close look. It appears the car is from a different country.

If you really look at it for a while..... I guess it could be a cool track car
but thats it.....

Great way to kill an American classic. Should be sponsored by Rice O Roni. Different strokes for different folks, but damn.

I think that a much (and I repeat much) milder body treatment could be tolerable on an older Camaro, but this is far too much, it takes the body line down way too far, the taillights are pretty cool but they would probably look more at home on an early 2nd gen. I do like the color on the car. Just so I am clear though, I don't like this body work in the least.

although im not a fan of the kits styling... at all... i still think its pretty cool... if it has the power to backup the look at least.

No, that car is from norway, not sweden!!!
I think the front looks ok but the rest sucks.
The body kit is all steel so it might be abit heavy as well.

The body kit is terrible, but I LOVE THE WHEELS! :hail: I've always wondered what Ferari 360 CS wheels would look like on a camaro, and IT IS GOOD. :unibrow:

Yes but they are nearly identical to the CS wheels, which just might be made by bbs. :willy:

Some dude from a Swedeish car club posted that, and a number of other very nice cars on PT.com many months ago.

I dig it.

You gotta remember that northern europe is heavilly into Touring Car racing. This build was clearly influenced by that. Good to see some creativity applied to a 1st Gen. I think we have enough SS stripes, OE spoilers and chrome.

If the thing runs well on top of that...double cool.

I have to say, it is a pretty close rip off from my body kit. Do you guys hate my version as much as his interpretation of it?

Tyler, yours looks much better. The other kit doesn't follow the body lines that well in my opinion and it is too low in the front. Your kit follows the curves of the front fenders much better, and the intercooler peaking out of the grill opening is going to be awesome.

NO! yours is WAY better I mean WAY

Your's is better, his looks good for all steel, but has a big ricer/touring race car theme, NO stickers, NO wings

I hesitate to make a suggestion cuz I really like the direction you're going in. I kinda think those fog/driving lights are probably 1/2 to a 1/3 too small. Maybe add bigger lights, add a recessed border region around them or use those areas aside of the center air intake as secondary vents that mimic the shape of the hide-away headlight covers (maybe scale them down in the vertical dimension). I would also get smaller or more angular sideview mirrors. :)

Your rocker panel extension is perfect though.

I'm guessing Kris helped you with the design...he did a great job, as usual.

Um, no. 100% John McBride. He is one hell of a designer.

Yup, that one's all John. I just did the follow-up 3D renderings. I think the original renderings came out in CHP or Hot Rod right before I graduated high school. Wasn't in the biz yet. :)

Hdesign
03-23-2006, 05:42 AM
I stand corrected. OOPS! :) John does awesome work as well. Perhaps I thought it was Kris because most of the artwork describing the design on your site is a 3D rendering. Though I did also like the thumbnail detail sketch you have on there...that must be John's. That sketch shows what I was thinking about regarding the driving light detail. Don't get me wrong, it's a killer looking car and real head turner.

Kris, what software do you use? It looks like Alias Studio. Are your wheels photoshopped or do you build the database in 3D also? They always look so realistic. I'm a big fan of your unique style.

Ben,

In short, all of my stuff is 3D modeled. I only use Photoshop for basic touch-up, texture design, and final image export. I'll send you a PM with some more info so we can keep this thread on track.

Tyler,
Ive often thought that a standard grille (with the lights inboard of the headlights) would look a bit better, then the holes in the valance could be used for brake cooling ducts.

Especially if it were on my car. ;)

Hey I just wanna say first that Tyler and ATS are Pro-Touring Pioneers in my opinion. The body kit was the beginning and Tyler had a clear vision from the beginning for what he wanted and where he wanted to go with it. I think the final design of the bodykit that Tyler and I came up with is agressive, clean and doesn't give the 1st gen Camaro an undesirable japanese tuner appearance. I think it actually gives it a functional muscular look that looks killer in person even in the unfinished stages. We worked for a few months on this and we spent a lot of time flushing out ideas, playing with different surfaces and shapes. The rear wing has already been copied by a couple people including a green 69 Camaro in a certain magazine....
Currently progress is being made to finish some of the original 50/50 bodykit parts and hopefully production parts will be available very soon. I'll leave that up to Tyler to talk about when the time is right.
Anyways, here's a few development sketches that some may not have seen. Thought I'd share.

The car is norwegian, here is his site: http://www.ltbcustom.com/
The front spoiler is hardly a rip off, he built it in the winter 2003-2004. It was featured in a Norwgian magazine in fall 2004. But you guys are right about one thing, it's FUGLY! :wow:

Teetoe_Jones

Well, concidering we designed the body kit in 02, he more than likely saw it, wanted it, and copied it.
I get a bunch of Emails regarding the kit from Norway and Sweden, so there ya go.

That "rip off" body kit reminds me of the Lauren Engineering kits for 80s Gbodies back in the 90's. Just boxy, "hung on" crap. Tyler's car has a much more integrated and refined look. That's tough to do.

Maybe he did copy it, the article in the Magazine states that he "built the car to the latest trends in the US". Go figure..

boy, I didn't want it to turn into a thrashing on this car by starting this thread. I see stuff on that car that I do like. I think the wing is probably the one thing I don't. The paint looks great, the wheels look pretty good.

Tyler I think your car is right on track with the body kit and I wish you would hurry up and get that thing done! lol:thumbsup:

Some of you Camaro boys have no Ba_ _ s. Teetoe, your design along with the overseas car are sweet. Its guys like you taking the car to the next level that motivates others. Great design. :hail: Now all you have to do is finish it. I know someday.

I think it's a huge compliment that the guy likes Tyler's design and used it. It's not like the guy is making body kits and selling them (not that I know of). Don't we all copy other people's work in someway to make our rides better? I still think tylers 50/50 kit is better looking :unibrow:

Diognes56
03-28-2006, 05:46 PM
50/50 is much MUCH better  , but there was some good work put into the other Camaro too. Minor changes could make the Norwegian one look a lot better than it currently does (50/50 would still be better though :D ).

[QUOTE=norwegian Z28]hi. I used to work with the man who build the camaro, and btw, the cars is the scandinavian champ, for best finish. And the front was designed in yesr 2000 and realized in 03\04. så drit på deg. this is a new pic from the rear!

Hey did they buy that wing from ATS,

yes i think the wing is from ats. Where do you guys from the state buy rims and syling from anyway? maybe it's cheaper in the us. sorry bad english

Teetoe_Jones

The spoiler design is certainly from ATS, but we have never sold a part from our body kit to anyone. The owner of the car must have had it fabricated off one of McBride's sketches.

is it really that different from the the camaro that ats were building cosmetically anyway.. but i guess it looks ok to me.
