So in my quest to return to the Atl, GA area I'm finding some jobs way north of ATL and into Tennessee itself. I'm just curious to know what people think about the Chattanooga area in terms of living. Is there a lot to do for fun and socializing? How's the car scene etc? I'm single with no kids or anything. Love the mountains and have always enjoyed the area but don't know anything about living there.

Thanks

No state income taxes:D But a healthy sales tax. 9.75 I think. Beautiful area!

I've heard good things about Chattanooga but never been. With VW in town and Audi maybe on the way, should be a good growth area.

Chattanooga is awesome IMO. Take me to the Honors golf course and I'm in my happy place. Good friend lives there and I arranged a personal tour of the town with emphasis on the 7 year revitilazation of old town Chattanooga with our mayor and Chatt's past and current mayors and city manager. Reports from the tour were 110% positive. Besides the beauracracy the terrain is awesome, the only downside I see is July/August weather is extreme. Hard to beat southern hospitality.

Been here all my life. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Car scene is ok, more of the street rod crowd from what I have seen. I've been out of it for a number of years and getting back into it. there are some talented people around, you just have to find them. You are a couple of hours from most everything. I know firstgen lives in Cleveland, we have a small dragstrip here.
As far as the whether, you get used to it. Hot in the summer, winter is average. Kind of depends on the year if we get snow. If we do, stay at home. The idiots come out in droves. No one knows how to drive in it. Those that do, are stopped by those who don't:rolleyes:
All in all, if you have a job to come to, come on.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm originally from Georgia and lived in Athens from 99-10. The weather doesn't bother me a bit. I'm just hoping to end up somewhere I enjoy living. I've only previously been through Chattanooga. I love the scenery and the outdoors. I just wasn't sure how the city and surrounding areas where for living.
