Hey Guys...

Remember the video that got us all into this PT stuff?...It was a vid on the Silver State Challenge from 1989 (I think) that showed the Big Red Camaro just cleaning the clocks of the other cars...

I remember a hearing the person narrating say something like, "One listen to the sound of Big Reds motor and everyone knew they would be competing for SECOND place"...He he he...

I have searched around and cannot find a copy of this video...Any leads?...Anybody got one for sale?...Is it on DVD yet?...I gotta ad it to my collection...

Thanks for any leads...

And THANK YOU BIG RED for changing the whole way we build cars!!!!

You're welcome. I've been lucky to see it in person a few times back when it was first built, It was parked but it was Big Red LOL

I have the second video on VHS in storage right now, I remember buying it at Super Shops as a kid. It has been forever since I have watched the video. I didn't realize that SW was featured so prominently in it.

That car kicks a$$ now, yet alone 23 years ago in 1989 with an all aluminum, 540 BBC. I also noticed it had 3-piece wheels that were staggered and a nice, low stance. A true case of the meaning of something being "ahead of its time."

I still have a copy of this on VHS as well. Haven't watched it in years. Maybe have to dig this out tonight when I get home.

Hey Chris,

After you watch it, could you look for the manufacturer or producer or any other hints or clues as to where I can purchase one?...I gotta find another one after I lost mine when I lost my storage a couple of years ago...

GO BIG RED!!!

Was this the 1969 Camaro that was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in the late 80's that was raced in Mexico in an open raod challenge and blew away all the exotic european high dollar sports cars? If I recall it was a cover car for that issue.

As I recall the article's author mentioned that the race organizers changed the rules to exclude the car, and similar hot rod type cars in future events.

Or am I mis-remembering.... :wow:

I know I would never get rid of a car if it kicked as much a$$ as this one did.:lateral:

Why would you get rid of a car like that with three different engine packages, and different hood configurations to suit the track event of the drivers choosing.

Most buy or build another car for another style of race. Apparently not with this car. :hail:

Just goes to show how versatile a car can be built for any type of race, and with a few changes be competitive, and competitive for 20 years.

This has me thinking.....
I wonder what my wife would say when I just finish my project then say, "Honey, I need another two engines for the car, because I'm going to a different race next week and next month." Somehow I don't think I'll ever find out....
Nice to dream though....:lateral:

Here is a story about Big Red
http://www.streetlegaltv.com/features/the-legendary-big-red-camaro-the-whole-story

From what I was told... The orig Big Red was built here in Northridge Ca buy Dan & RJ Gottlieb, Dan had a shop next to Bob Lambeck ( Who I used to work for) Lambeck, Dan & RJ Gottlieb teamed up in drag racing for a while and shared a building.. Anyone remember the red and black Camaros racing in NHRA that said Gottlieb/Lambeck on the side??

In the early - mid 90's my friend & I saw Big Red just sitting covered in dust, In an airport hanger in Ontario Ca, while visiting Global West suspension. My friend tried to buy it, but they wouldn't sell..

Why yes it was Charlie, I do not remember what years and it was in laughlin, in the collection. I wonder if the collection of cars is still there? as I remember looking at it with my dad, and he mentioned, it's not even a camaro anymore with all the suspension components, I disagreed, and knew what I wanted my camaro to resemble
