O.k. So who has got the fastest pro touring car with low profile tires on the dragstrip??

What are your combinations? Maybe we can all learn something! :unibrow:

It's one of those gray areas. By low profile, do you mean something like Michelin Pilot Sports, Kuhmo/Nitto Road Race slicks or Hoosier Quick Time Drag tires? The difference between the three is huge. Also radial-only not bias -ply correct ? Not being a pain, just seein' what you were looking for.

Maybe tires that could be considered both street legal and rain-worthy?

I mean any low profile tires 17" or larger I guess. I have run 315/35/ 17" BFG Drag Radials and Pirelli PZERO Road race slicks back to back, and had the same 60' time. I have never tried a regular tire that is not a track tire. That wold be asking for BIG trouble!! :omg:

im going to put 335 / 18s and bigger brakes on my street racer and it will be a PT car. It runs very low nines. I can use my ET streets right?

For specs,

404 CI
10:1 pump gas motor
a little squeeze
TH350
4.10 12 bolt

I am not sure a road course would like a nitrous car with 4.10's! :_paranoid

4.10s are fine with a 7600 RPM motor, but i'll let someone grab the nitrous on the road coarse! Crazy sheot happens when you add 300+ horse on a roll.

I am being a bit fasicious (sp) with calling it a Pro Touring car, I keep threatening to do it and drive it on power tour. Put 18s on it, some 13" / 12" brakes, a stock deck lid and spoiler, remove the wheelie bars. Dirve it on the tour, pull into Gainseville, change deck lid to wing deck lid, put on ET street tires, put the wheelie bars on, and blast off a 8.99 to 9.30.

hey.

see, we dont have many dragstrips over here ... so quartermile times are hard to get plus my nova is not done yet ...

if you consider my 1996 M3 pro touring, it was doing 178 mph and I drove that fast if possible every weekend on my way home .... see video and project pics on www.keilani-racing.de

Well, So far myself, I have gone 10.50@ 137 mph on 315's and 93 octane pumpgas. Unfortunatly, that was not a complete pass because I blew up my torque converter. All the sudden it would just zing right to the rev limiter. I was running a 9" and now had to swap to a 10". I am hoping to get to the track sometime in the next month or two and see what it really runs. I am hoping for 9's @ about 150 mph, but I will have to wait and see. Honestly, I am pretty happy with the only slip I have, I didn't think that was to bad given the situation! :D
