Ron Sutton Project Car - For Sale
57 Chevy 9/10 Scale TA Track Warrior
This was my project car I was building for myself in early 2013, right after I closed my 9 race teams. I built the chassis for myself for street, autocross, track days & 200 mph Silver State runs.
It is a chromoly & DOM tube chassis I designed, that later became the design for my TA Track-Warrior chassis. The body is fiberglass, originally made for drag racing & requires work to make it correct for this purpose. The body is basically the size of a 1st Gen Camaro, except a little narrower. 67" front fender width, 108" Wheelbase & 48" height.
You can see all the details, list of parts included, price & photos in the Following Posts.
*No, Miss February 2007 Heather Rene Smith does NOT come with the car.

The chassis design is what became my TA Track Warrior. You can look at the clip HERE (http://www.ronsuttonracetechnology.com/catalog/?page=140)in my catalog.
The chassis is my GT1 chassis with lower rear frame rails (much stronger & lighter). It has 5 zones. The cockpit is 1-3/4 x.095 4130 Chromoly for low to zero crush. The front utilizes DOM tubing & has a high crush zone in front & medium crush zone in the engine area. The rear is similar with a high crush zone at the rear to absorb crash energy & a medium crush zone at the Fuel Cell. Fuel cell cage is built in.
Door bars are Chromoly with triple triangulation for chassis rigidity & to protect the driver & passenger in the event of side impacts.

Rear suspension is not in yet. The blueprints come with the project & allow for a 3-Link & 4-link. The 3-link is for everything except drag racing. The top link would be removed & 2 4-Link top links installed to go drag racing if & when desired.
The clip is my TA design, but the lower control arm mounts are not slugged like they are in the clips we sell today. If you want to have one of my shops finish the car, the clip could be changed.
The car is currently set up for a 670 series steering box. But could be made for a rack super easy by simply welding on the rack bracket.
The upper control arm mounts ARE slotted. So geometry changes are easy.
This car was planned to have a 4 ride height measured at the firewall frame rails & 4.5 at the rear crossmember. Tall enough to clear speed bumps & deal with driveways, but pretty low. It can be run lower or higher.
The motor plate & mid plate are installed for a small block Chevy. I had a 730HP race engine at the time. It is now sold.
Youd need to make new mounts for a LS.
I planned to run a T56 Magnum. The mount is not made for it.

These shots show the chassis welded up. There are a lot of additional braces that have been fitted
but not welded on YET, only to make it easier to work on.
Once the car is finished, then youd weld in the door bars & final engine bay braces

Take into account how far back the main hoop in this car is.
The driver & passenger sit behind the B-post.

The body shell is only sitting on the chassis for mock up purposes. It is not mounted.
The rear fender openings were made too big (drag tires) so factory 57 Chevy rear fenders need to be grafted in.
The front tire openings are too low (drag racing again) & need to be raised up significantly.
This is a 9/10 scale 57 Chevy race body. It is LIGHT. The entire body weighs 150#. Nothing is mounted.
Wheelbase: 108
Height: 48
Width: 67
It is too narrow to run 315s & run autocross. Body would have to widened to do that. I planned to keep it narrow to do well at Goodguys AX events.

This is my good friend, Miss Playboy February 2007, Heather Rene Smith posing for marketing photos. Believe it or not, she wrenches & welds. But shes not a car girl. Shes a truck girl.
I only have the street cruiser/show tires & wheels for the car that you see here to the right.
Fronts are 285-18s BEHIND Heather.
Rears are 345-20s that Heather is leaning on.

This is the rendering I had done to show the car finished with aero splitter,
Side splitters & low angle rear wing.
These are the street/show tires.
At the time, I planned to run 285s all way around for autocross & 305s for track. Since then, tire size availability has shrunken. The only good autocross tires are 275, 315 & 335.
