Shimming front sway bar on 1st gen camaro?

If i were to shim my factory swaybar on my 68 camaro 1/2”-1” off the subframe do you also need to trim back the end links? I need a little extra room for a pulley.

Same me question for a ridetech musclebar. I may go this rout if you can shim these down too. Anyone shim one of these?

I ran into same issue when I lowered my 572 in the 68 Camaro.
I tried shimming but it did not work well.
Then I spoke with John Wright at ADDCO who made me a custom bar that fits perfectly and the cost was really cheap.
I had him "clock" the center loop forward 15 degrees to clear my pulley through full suspension travel.
Could this be a better option for you?

Not exactly but not too sure. Im trying to get it way from my vacuum pump on my Gen V swap so its more to the side rather than in the middle like the crank pulley.

Currently the swaybar sits about a 1/4" below the pulley and 1/2" behind the pulley so there is a chance it could contact. Hard to see in the pic due to the angle, I'm taking a picture of something else. Not sure if this area of the sway bar moves much or if its just the center section that moves up and down?

Do they make a smaller pulley.

Probably but I'd imagine it would alter the vacuum performance?

Smaller pulley means more vacuum. I wouldn’t think it would be a huge issue.

If anyone else has experience with lowering the swaybar please chime in. The shop that did some work on my car recommended this to me and said they do it all the time but did not mention if you need to adjust the end links or not.

Check the clearance between the sway bar mounts and the lower arms, if you lowered the bar and the car is lowered as well. You may not have enough suspension travel due to reduced clearance between the lower arms and sway bar mounts

It’s not an uncommon call we get. The bigger diameter crank pulley can cause clearance issues with the sway bar (especially the bigger diamter bars). It normally doesn’t take too big of a shim to get the clearance needed so the endlinks don’t get too out of whack. At ride height, you want them to go into the control arm/sway bar with no angle on them. If you see them looking bound up and at an angle, then modify the length of them. I’ve had a few customers shim ours with no issue as well.
