Just wanted to post this up. I was looking for a cleaner way to pass my harness through my firewall. I contact the owner of the business and showed him a design and he was able to produce it. Hopefully this helps others. I am not affiliated with the business or owner .

Thank you!! I use to be heavy into the import scene and a company made these for Honda harnesses but not domestic cars. I contacted the owner of Sharpe performance and told him the potential market for a clean quality pass through and sent him the design you see and literally in a couple a days he had one prototype made.

I contacted motion race works to make them initially and never got an email back.

I was honestly trying to help a USA company expand their product line.

I'm just glad it helped others. I have a few other simple ideas that I'd like to bring to market to.

Ahmad

It's funny as I was talking with the guys at Kwik Wire last week at Good-Guys Columbus and showed them the motion racing firewall grommet and they agreed there needs to be something like this.

Rad Rides has a machined plate that they use on their build with the Circular Connectors. Which is very cool but ''pinning'' each wire would not be fun.

How does this mount to the firewall?

You drill a 2" hole in your firewall, 2 holes for the mounting screws. Mount the firewall pass through on the engine side around the harness, have a buddy tighten the the nuts on the inside of the car and your done.

Ohh so its just the 2 bolts, no sandwich plate on the backside to keep help pull the firewall flat if its not on a perfectly flat spot. The thinner passthroughs have more bolts and conform to the firewall, my concern is the 2 bolts may not suck it perfectly tight to the firewall. That would be remedied with a 1/8" backing ring with the 2 bolts. I can easily fab that up. I'll consider picking one of these up. Thank you!

There's also an ebay seller that sells one for a smaller diameter harness(for Hondas) that I'm going to be using on my main vehicle harness. The item is listed under "k tuned firewall grommet" . I would post a link but I hate posting up links then they expire.

These are very cool. I see on his website there's an option for hidden or visible fasteners, which one do you have there? I was looking on his site but see no way to contact him to ask. I'd like to see a version of both of I could.

Thanks!

So the pictures I posted are the hidden hardware version as you have to tighten the nuts from inside the car.

And the version that Ahmad B posted is the version with the bolts inside the engine bay.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Think I'm going to go with the visible fasteners for ease of installation, plus where I intend to mount them, you won't see them anyways.

The firewall grommet is actually easier to install with the hidden fastners. With the exposed fasteners you'll need 2 people to install it

Maybe I'm confused on the orientation? I would think either one would need 2 people to assist unless you can reach the other side of the panel you're putting this on.
For example, placing one of these in the firewall with the hidden fasteners, you'd need someone on the engine side to hold the billet piece in place and then someone on the interior to start the bolts.

With the visible fasteners you'd need someone to put the nuts on the bolts on the interior side.

I was thinking of using those threaded nut inserts that are like rivets to thread in to, or tacking on some nuts to be able to catch the bolts.....

The weight of the engine harness and studs going through the firewall will hold it enough to place the nuts on and tighten it inside the interior. I did it the other day solo.

I've already got a 2.250" hole in my firewall - if the OD is 2.9" is there enough room to drill the mounting holes? Guess I need to know the max hole size for this to fit. Thanks. -Bob

The hole in the firewall needed is 50mm or just under 2"

Appreciate the work that went into this and offering it to all of us
