I am reaching out to the collective advantage and wealth of experience and knowledge for guidance. I am in the process of installing a new Tanks, inc fuel system in my 74 Firebird that has an in tank electric fuel pump, routed up through an in-line filter, to a fuel regulator that will reduce the flow for a carbureted engine and will be mounted in the engine bay.
That much i pretty much understand and the rational was that i needed to replace the original pump anyway. The electric fuel pump should provide more consistent fuel to the engine and if/when i ever wanted to replace my Pontiac 400 with an LS engine, I’d be that much closer.
The questions i am wrestling with and why i am reaching out is:
1. Do i need to install a return line from the regulator back to the tank?
2. If so, how is this routed? Right next to the outbound fuel line? What kind of hose clamps do you recommend?
3. Is it necessary, or does it make sense to cut an access door into the trunk floor?
I may end up with more questions, but if i knew the answer to the return line dilemma i think i could get close.

From the product description: “Includes our GPA series fuel pumps 255lph with Walbro pump”

All the regulators I've used with an EFI style fuel pump and a regulator to get it down the 6-7 psi for a carb require a return line to the tank. Easiest to run it back next to the feed line from the tank.

I didn’t cut an access in my trunk floor but wish I had.
Hose clamps? None, I run Swagelok tubing and fittings. Very nice stuff

You maybe too far down a path, but Holley offer this in tank pump with regulator for 6psi. If you want to move to EFI, you swap out internal regulator

I'm sure this is way late and you are already up and running but I just swapped my Holley Sniper to a carb. 351W in a 39' truck. Used the same EFI pump, changed the regulator and filter. All good.
