Sorry if I missed it, but what are you using for a dif fluid pump? Also when you have a system like that how to you set the "full" level? fill it, then run the pump then fill it again? or fill it with the pump on?

Any updates? I have a question: When do you consider a diff cooler mandatory? Matt |
I have a question: When do you consider a diff cooler mandatory?
Matt[/QUOTE] At the minimum you should run a line off the diff to an overflow tank higher than the diff for track use. This will allow the fluid to get hot and have a place to expand into then drain back. I started to run diff coolers after I saw hot the diffs temps got during track use. If you want to know for sure add a thermal couple to the diff fluid. If the fluid gets hot than 140 C ( 284 F) degrees with synthetic fluid you will need a cooler. If you are running standard gear lube the temperature is lower. A diff cooler is a little over kill for most Pro-Touring cars. If you have over 500 HP and are going fast for long track sessions it is cheap insurance. If you are just auto-crossing I wouldn’t spend the money. Mark |
Mark:
Even if it has been said 1000 times, it will never be said enough: "Thank you sooo much for taking the time to explain all the details and reasoning behind all of the trick differences that puts your builds in a class all of their own...And doing this using language that doesn't appear "aimed" at only the high end guys, but at the same time doesn't sound like you are explaining it to a third grader...." Does that make sense?... It's obvious that you love what you do and I know I'm not alone in saying that we all really enjoy reading your replies to our inquiries... Forever a fan,..... Rick |
