The roof would take several hours to repair. The time it would take to repair that roof would be much more time than to replace. You also have to take into consideration what the owner wants or has the money for. There is a ton of other factors that go into this equation, budget and parts availability being just some of it. Chris has alot of time and money invested in his name he's not going to put out sh^t work. I think his cars speak for them self.. I hope this helps you understand .

I think this will really help with why and how things are done and sometimes you make a decision on the fly and hope for the best. Sometimes it really bites you and you lose big time and other times it works out great. Its usually always faster to fix than replace.

Chris, thanks for posting the build pictures. I don't post a lot here but I felt the need to chime in and note that I find it amazing how critical some people are being on this thread. I'm getting the since that the majority of the critics have never completed multiple cars themselves and actulaly done this type of metal work before. As someone with a dozen or so cars under their belt I wanted to take the time and say how impressed I am with the work you guys are doing in such a short time and the correct decisions you are having to make on the fly. Your work thus far from what I see is top notch and I would be thrilled to have a car built by you guys (if I didn't have the skills/tools to build my own).

Looking forward to the finished product.

Welcome to the internet, it seems no matter how you do something there is always someone out there that has a better idea or a better way to do it. We are not the best in the world but we are a dam good shop and we build stuff correct. We do what we do because we know what we are doing.

If anyone would like to question how or why we do something I do not have a problem with it. I will show every picture of a build and hide nothing as you can see. That is what sets our shop from most others, we are not afraid to show you guys how to do stuff right and have lots of details to prove what we are doing will look right when finished.

There are a lot of guys that will say that’s not how I would do it or why did you do that and when it comes to building cars there is really no wrong way to do things as long as it’s done right. I just wanted to show you guys the correct way to patch a panel and how to protect it so it won’t rust out again.

I figure that this post was a perfect one for what to watch for, even the best guys can miss stuff when buying a car and that can cost you a ton. This is more to show everyone out there that even a car that looks perfect can have $20K in rust problems and set you back weeks.

This car is nice but had issues, I would have not bought it knowing what I know now. I would have found a clean donor car to work with, one that I know has rust and where it is. I would say that about 80% of everyone selling cars on EBAY and the forums is covering stuff up. I have yet to really buy a car that was as good as stated. That is why I try to always buy stock with as close to original paint as possible.

If nothing else people that have seen this car will now know that there can be bad stuff on every car and it’s hard to find till you really get into it. You live and learn and try to buy better next time. I bought this car mostly for the parts so at the end of the day I got a decent price on a car because I was able to sell off all the parts. Nothing on this car was untouched. New everything
