time to weigh
https://i.imgur.com/QX3YgBkh.jpg oh and I'm done with this argument.... the weight of a BBC powered C3 Corvette... 7 gallons of fuel in the tank https://i.imgur.com/K6izgAAh.jpg - something cool, if you look next to the weight numbers, it tells you where the weight is on the tire... didn't realize that - outside has a hair less weight then the inside of the tire which does create a problem since 3200 is the minimum weight.... Optima weighs after the track sessions - the problem is 20 gallons is 120 lbs. - and without the driver (darn, my non-fitness program would finally pay off).... 30 minute on a track at high speed will burn more then 3 gallons..so I will be adding weight so with that bad news, I figured I'd fix my window alignment https://i.imgur.com/l3feqXOh.jpg is 'fixed' the window won't go up again with the switch? oh good lord. https://i.imgur.com/PSWXy1mh.jpg but it seems fixed as far as sealing - however, I'll be verifying this before I put the door panel back on that's enough for tonight *oh wait, cue dramatic music... the rack has a small leak - it owes me nothing because I bought it to use to mock up... it worked so it hasn't been changed. It might be the fitting but just one more thing.... lordy. |

time for some CAD work
https://i.imgur.com/49uG6qvh.jpg half and half? https://i.imgur.com/tUEP5kwh.jpg there are times when I want to troll... this picture is for those trolls https://i.imgur.com/zose38hh.jpg and more of the left https://i.imgur.com/oVwLSplh.jpg on the other hand https://i.imgur.com/rv49PI8h.jpg |
tonight's fun, working with aluminum and plastic
https://i.imgur.com/joNCvMlh.jpg HDPE https://i.imgur.com/3oBvwQRh.jpg it is Plastic Fantastic, after all... |
onward
time to start fitting https://i.imgur.com/Mmzwanvh.jpg easy so far https://i.imgur.com/LbXb37Hh.jpg now getting harder https://i.imgur.com/LXKOSjZh.jpg look at the top edges, as I start making the spoiler follow the side-to-side changes (it goes flat in front of the tire) that pulls the top in.... I also have to radii the part which follows the wheel opening. I suspect there will be more then on attempt at this.... and all of this to get hate from tracks because it has neither ABS no traction control... and as a bonus is not quiet.... ah well, if it were easy.... |
narrower
https://i.imgur.com/b0vtQcVh.jpg reality is I didn't like the extensions - so I narrowed it https://i.imgur.com/8oB3qhzh.jpg welding mounting tabs https://i.imgur.com/CriMSylh.jpg there is a danger to being on the ground.... https://i.imgur.com/J4yAcnQh.jpg not sure how much of this I'll use https://i.imgur.com/AhZyYfMh.jpg mostly held by tabs https://i.imgur.com/483jLKFh.jpg in other news, another BB for another C3 https://i.imgur.com/8r83f3Ph.jpg and aluminum heads https://i.imgur.com/ir89Jech.jpg I know this is sacrilege in some circles, but if you can fit a BBC, you can make remarkable, NA power for relatively cheap. Not just that but ocean flat and ocean wide torque. LS is a fantastic motor, I have one in Buinicorn, but if a BB made sense, I'd even swap it for one in it (I have one, just not for it) |
getting there

blanking plate to direct air to the radiator
https://i.imgur.com/rVsICXhh.jpg metal https://i.imgur.com/hNlb0cCh.jpg installed-ish https://i.imgur.com/oBoncneh.jpg welding aluminum is so easy https://i.imgur.com/NFWreN7h.jpg getting closer https://i.imgur.com/kmu1wkRh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JgdE3tah.jpg now to decide how much splitter... the blue lines are potential cut lines https://i.imgur.com/fzEMOQhh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NN4fcC9h.jpg |
for now, the splitter portion stays off.... I want to test like this - I also have a few other things to do to help with air management and rear brake cooling
and more fitting, but this time with a grinder https://i.imgur.com/csAEuvph.jpg it will be black when it's done - but I still have a bit more welding to do https://i.imgur.com/UXVlWOCh.jpg |
