All of the sheet metal seems to be very wavy. The roof and right quarter look to have a lot of high spots. I'm kinda new to sheet metal work and would like to learn how the waves will be taken out. Looks like a heck of a lot of hammer and dolly work!!! Maybe the pics look worse than it is but, would you consider replacing panels rather than all that metal finish work? Once the metal finish work is done will you re-skim the whole car?

comp-spec 11-01-2008 01:37 PM

What you are looking at is the panel half stripped.
So it looks like your seeing lots of high spots but, your just seeing were we went threw to the the metal before the whole panel was finished being stripped.
No, we will not need to skim-coat the whole car after the metal work is completed

If any car needed saving it's Tony's ... lol

It is nice to see how lots of people have come together to help a member out with his misfortune, I wish there was such a group up here in Canada.

OK I see, thanks.. The car looks great all stripped down in bare steel.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you guys will correct any issues with the sheet metal and how and where you will apply body filler.

SEMA was not only good in the way of finally getting to meet Pete (comp-spec), Mario (DOOM), and Nick (Camaro Performers); but also I am very excited to announce that Speed Tech and Marquez Design are now sponsors of my project! Thanks guys!!

After seeing all the cars at SEMA, at the track, and driving Curtis' car last night I'm real fired up to finish mine up early next year!

What are your thoughts on naming the project? Right now Jennifer likes Karma (Carma?) I'm not sure, I've never been able to come up with anything...

Thanks again L-g!!

Spiffav8 11-09-2008 06:31 PM

Well that's a fairly productive trip to SEMA!

Carma is an interesting name, but I think you should wait. Sooner or later the car will let you know who it is.

bigtyme1 11-09-2008 07:25 PM

I think the car is pretty much a shoe in for SEMA, A top Builder and many big name parts. I don't see it being a problem. you deserve it Tony:thumbsup:

Steve, What your doing with article is making all of Tony's dreams come true:cheers:
Pete, what can I say, your the MAN!

After speaking with Tony and his wife I can tell you that he is in Shock of what is happeneing and what remaines to be seen:unibrow:

Steve1968LS2 11-09-2008 07:28 PM

Does this project have a name?

It should have something appropriate.. like "Project Reincarnation" or "Project Back On Track"

Something along those lines... "Project Karma"

I like that, if you do name the car, I would not put the work project in the title, thats just to much to say... and then it may nevr get done...

Blake Foster 11-10-2008 10:02 AM

looks like you will need to hold a lotery inorder to see what booth it will be in next year.
maybe we should have a Lateral-G booth ??????

conekiller13 11-10-2008 12:48 PM

Well if You need a hot shoe for track time I cordially nominate myself.

I'm kinda diggin the Carma nae since I would say this is very good example of good energy coming back to You.:hail:

So is there going to be anything left for Me to help you on when it comes back or will it be all done when comes back a this point?

Brian46 11-10-2008 01:09 PM

It looks like the old shop had the right idea about adding metal to close the gaps. Will you be cleaning up the welds and grinding it smooth before filler/paint?

It looks like you guys are doing some great work on the east coast, kudos to you guys for knowing the quality that customers demand for their dream cars.

There will be plenty for you to do when it comes home!

I think you better get some seat time in it just in case we make it down to Vegas next year! ;) I think Steve proved that a team effort pays off!!

We have some new parts coming for Tony's car. After we have the new parts we'll do final line up, metal work, assembly and finish any welding and grinding of the gaps at that time. Once I'm happy with that I'll do the filler work
