Hopefully fire it up next week. In the meantime, here are a few updated pics of the car. It's starting to like something I can drive!

Interior came out sweet, what steering wheel is that? I am having a hard time deciding which one I want.

Looks very nice!
If you ever think about changing that gauge console to a glass one let me know.

Thank you. I am pretty happy with it, especially since it was plan B!

It's the Flaming River Waterfall. Lots of good options out there.

Vegas69 05-10-2009 07:04 PM

Yeah Yeah Yeah....where is this video?

fleet 05-10-2009 09:23 PM

Flash is negotiating with Japanese TV. Its all very hush hush, lots of citrus fruit being exchanged back and forth etc. etc.

If that deal falls through we'll see some vids...I guess.

If you must know, I was actually spending hours learning how to use iMovie on my friend's Mac (I'm a PC user but now want to get one just for this program). Really fun program and can be addictive once you get the hang of it. She did most of the work I have to admit.

Anyway, enough chatter.... hope you like.

fleet 05-11-2009 05:44 AM

Very cool Dave.

What's your impressions of how it drives?

Payton King 05-11-2009 05:57 AM

The Vid made me smile and brought back

lots of memories as to when I took mine out for the maiden voyage.

Congrats and your car looks bad ass!

Vegas69 05-11-2009 06:24 AM

I didn't know you were going to edit the video. Car looks good man.

mdprovee 05-11-2009 07:00 AM

That is really cool Dave, nothing like the first ride. Congrats to you!!

Tom.A 05-11-2009 07:26 AM

It looks mean. We need some pictures also

camcojb 05-11-2009 07:29 AM

ok, I'll ask. Why is it idling so high? Looks great by the way.

Thanks. Lots of adjusting needed so it was a little sloppy... needs alignment, clutch adjusted, throttle pedal is loose, power steering reservoir is junk (being replaced with a better one), that shifter is pretty damn hard to get into 1st gear, but we think that may help once the idle is adjusted. Surprisingly, we didn't feel or hear any rubbing as low as it sits. Gonna move it up about 1/2" all around anyway.

Thank Jody.

Yes, I was waiting for this question. When we originally started it the idle settled down betw 1000-1400 or so, but then once we got out on the road it was up around 1800-2000. Not sure why. The tuner is coming by this week/weekend to plug his equipment in and check out all the vitals.

Oh, and max boost we saw was 7 psi just part throttling. That's with the intercooler and larger pulley hooked up.

it should idle fine at 950-1000 rpms, it did before. Sounds like the throttle blade is too far open, vacuum leak, etc. I'm sure the tuner can figure it out once he has access to the software and can see what is and what isn't happening.

Congrats again on getting it moving, big milestone.
Jody

As you know Dave, there once was a short, stocky, dimwitted bald man who lived with his parents. That all changed however, once he got behind the wheel of his Dad's GTO proclaiming loudly and proudly ... "I'm a bad man!"

After your maiden voyage Dave, I don't see how we can deny your membership any longer into the 'Bad Man' club.

Welcome!

Thanks. It's a great feeling as you know, and just the beginning of more fun.

I can't remember his name, but the tuner that is coming over the Gearhead guys are really high on his skills. So I'm sure he will get it worked out.

Thanks AJ. Debating on the stripe or painting just the cowl section.... might wait a bit and see what I think.

boonedog 05-12-2009 07:27 AM

when can we get some pics of the car finished?

fleet 05-12-2009 03:42 PM

I'm sure Dave will post them soon. He's been real busy.

He's fortunate to be in the Kenny Banya business.

:P

lt1 chevelle 05-12-2009 04:52 PM

Spiffav8 05-12-2009 05:30 PM

Congratulations. I know you've been through a bit to get to this point but it looks like it was well worth the trouble. Can't wait to go for ride!

Well... when it's finished. :D Are these cars ever finished? I realize we spent all the time videoing the car last weekend and no really decent pics. I'll post a couple of what I have.

Thanks! Yep, the plan is to cruise down from Sac with the Gearhead posse and be part of their team.

Thanks Curtis. Yes I was just telling my dad today that after 2.5 years of bitching, complaining, sulking, bla bla bla, it all doesn't matter much now. :)

You definitely got a ride voucher! :D

Thanks Jason,

I learned to try and keep busy while I was.. uh .. unavailable for those 15 years for impersonating a poser.

And thanks for getting Vertigo to this point which helped Dave return to being at least a semi-productive part of society. Sooner or later he was bound to be missed.
