Is the car still at Ironworks????????????:_paranoid
|
Yes it is!
And I wasn't giving YOU grief for asking about the car -- I was just being flippant about "the build" in general because it will bug Tyler. :D |

Hey all. I'm on a recon mission out of the country, but yes, the car is still at Ironworks.
Lucky for me Rodger has been super awesome to work with, keeping me updated on where it is in the que and being patient with me as life gets in the way of building cars. I'm totally fine with being on the back burner as watching Greg's bubble top is giving me ideas on how to dump more money into it while it is in Rodgers possession. In the mean time, John McBride and I have been revisiting the body modifications and are working out a new extractor hood and side rocker to match the amazing flares that Ironworks did. I'm happy with the hood design, but I'm still up in the air with the rockers. What do you guys think? Hood: http://i43.tinypic.com/1ioehz.jpg Rocker 1: http://i41.tinypic.com/hx6k4l.jpg Rocker 2: http://i39.tinypic.com/35a3vrp.jpg Rocker 3: http://i41.tinypic.com/2cxfhcp.jpg Rocker 4: http://i42.tinypic.com/nz4v21.jpg I'm leaning toward number 2 myself, but I almost feel a combo of 1 and 2 mixed might be the hot ticket. were doing a cross between 2 and 3 on N-XSS to tie in with the randys front spoiler. something simple and small. I think anyof them will look good.
|
Looks great guys this is one of the cars that has inspired my F100 build, hope to see it finished soon.

Sweet running boards! Now Greg can actually get in! Ok, the short jokes are probably played out. But I figured Greg needed crap back for being flippant. :D Hood concept looks great! I had a chance to be in the Bakersfield area for work in Feb. I really wanted to sneak in a visit to Ironworks. That whole life getting in the way thing got me too. |
TWO
  |
I like #1 -- it's a bit more "subtle" and just ties in the front and rear flares.
Amazing that you can post from Kosovo... Being a double is a hard life. Good work on the Iranian nuke scientist! :_paranoid  |
I'd go with number 2
|
Nice renderings Tyler. I think this car more than any I want to see done one day.
I like rocker options # 2 & 4 |
I love the hood design, and I like #1 on the rockers.
|
#2. I like how the flare at the bottom of the wheel well matches the flare of the front wheel well.
|
Any updates?
|
thought this thing died abut a year ago.. Roadstershop is going an IRS camaro if you want to check it out.

Car is not dead, but I feel like I am. I've asked Rodger to put me on hold while I work on my newest venture, DeFenderCo.com. During the days I'm the Service Manager of a Mazda dealership in Orange County, and I work 12 hrs days, 6 days a week there. At night and with my spare income I've been doing R&D on my new products for 67-69 Camaros. We are finalized with all prototypes and I've begun making master patterns and saving cash for my first production run, as well as designing a website in my non-existant free time.
So to hold you over, here is a rendering update from John McBride of the car in its proposed race trim, as well as a preview of the soon to launch website for DeFenderCo.com. Hope everyone here is doing well. http://i.imgur.com/ayieaHel.jpg link to hi-res: http://i.imgur.com/ayieaHe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KJo6bbnl.jpg link to hi-res: http://i.imgur.com/KJo6bbn.jpg Tyler |
Tyler love the rendering and love the front end cover.
I tried the web addy and it looks like the site is not up and running yet. Will you be offering a 2nd gen Camaro version ? |

The day you drive it under it's own power will be a major testament to the power of the human will.   By the looks of the rendering, it looks like it's matured into what will be a killer track car. Me like |

And wish you sold those Defender mats a few months back I would have bought one for my engine swap. I may still get one so let me know when thier available. |
If someone really deserve hes car to get finshed its Teetoe. Good luck for your project
|
Right on Tyler
|
I like the front end cover design  ... it would be cool to have a couple of pockets on the front section for putting nuts and bolts or tools.

Wow Tyler, that thing is bad as$. I've always loved that car, its hard to believe how those subtle changes could improve the style of that car so much. Its been a long road, you've got to be chomping to be done, and cruising.
|
Good luck with the new venture, Tyler.

Guess who finally squirreled enough cheddar away to stop paying monthly storage and maybe, juuuuussssst maybe get this thing out of Rodger's shop and back home to my loving garage?
Me. It was me. That was a good guess. You were right. All I will say at this point is that Rodger Lee owner of Ironworks Speed and Kustoms is a professional. He has been more patient with me than my own flesh and blood parents. (and they had to suffer through me learning to play the drums in their house as a teenager) I've taken up an entire section of Rodger's back storage for many years now, decommissioned a chassis table for a decade, and probably caused a few thousand jokes about my car at his expense. Again, he has been nothing but understanding, accommodating, communicative, and a very cool guy when it came to my many stall outs, fund shortages, plan revamps, and career changes. I'll let Rodger decide if he would like to update this thread to include any build photos. I'll try and check in but these days message forums are very tough to keep up with. That said, here is 4-5 years worth of dust and rust seeing the light of day once again. The world champion of stalled-never-completed-out-of-my-budget-project-car-from-1999; the 50/50 Camaro. http://i.imgur.com/GMvQGf8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0zP3OWj.jpg |
Good luck Tyler!

|
This is a thread I'm glad to see back on top.
|
I'm bumping this thread purely for the joy of story content. There's some seriously romantic motivation here. Don't let go, Teetoe!:headspin:
|
Nice to see Tyler.
And to think... hardly anyone is doing any stretched fenders or flares these days. :computer: |
Very cool Tyler!
Seeing as how Dave posted right above this, I'm curious whose care will be driveable first... :underchair: |
Glad to see progress.....
x2 on Rusto's storyline comment
"Don't let go Teetoe" |
Wow, what's it been? 15-16 years since we crossed paths?
Looking forward to the completion. |
