Car looks great in motion.

I'm sure if it was built for the track only it would have different spring ratings. I was just looking for a solid car on and off the track and that is just what I got!

Thanks

Good on you for taking it out for some thrashing!
I gotta say I'm pleasently suprised, most cars of this quality sit exclusively on pedistals in overly decorated garages.
Very, very cool!
Are you going to any other events this year with the car? I'd love to see it in person.

Thanks! It does make you sweat some...but heck at 550 HP...what fun would that be just sitting there looking good.

Here is the plan.
June 17, 18 & 19 – Back to the 50’s, St Paul, MN 125,000 Attendees – Autocross Event
July 1, 2 & 3 – Goodguys Heartland Nationals, Des Moines, IA 70,000 attendees – Autocross Event
July 8, 9 & 10 – Goodguys PPG Nationals, Columbus, OH 125,000 attendees – Autocross Event
July 15, 16 & 17 – Car Craft Summer Nationals, St Paul, MN 45,000 attendees – Autocross Event
August 27, 28 & 29 – BlackTop Nationals, Wichita, KS 100,000 attendees – Autocross Event
September 30-October 2 – Goodguys Lone Star Nationals, Fort Worth, TX 60,000 attendees – Autocross Event
November 18, 19 & 20 – Goodguys Southwest Nationals, Scottsdale, AZ 65,000 attendees

Then home to my garage for some personal time!

mike343sharpstk 06-14-2011 03:52 PM

Shux, I don't see Goodguys Chicago on the list :faint:
Planning to go to that event and hitting the autox with the 'ol Rambler, but I'm sure plenty of Forum guys will be looking forwad to catching this in real-life.

No love for us NW guys either. I don't blame ya or the Rings, it's a long ways up here and our GG's Show doesn't have an auto-x!

Perhaps a bigger front sway bar would help without stiffing the ride?

Spike TV Power Block. Sat. Jul. 9 & 10... watch it if you can.

Ring Brothers will be talking with Courtney with the Dragon front and center. Maybe she will touch it...:unibrow:

I've seen this car up close (twice now) and spoken with JA Stoner at SEMA, the car is incredible top to bottom, front to back... and Mr Stoner is a class act himself and a very nice man. It was a thrill to have not only one but TWO ring bros. cars in the studios at one time!, although Dragon nudges past the other car on the sheer ambitiousness of the build... It's really interesting to see Mike and Jim beat the holy poo out of these cars, and have complete confidence in not only the cars being able to handle it, but to have the confidence that if there's a rock chip or a cone mishap... "it's only paint", and it can all be recreated and represented as well again... Im a huge fan of the RINGs, their company, and their products. It's great to see guys like this rise to the top of the heap by virtue and good old fashioned hard work and integrity. ( not to mention insane talent and vision)

Trust me, if you get a chance to see this car ( or any Ring creation) up close... take the time and do it! it will inspire you, i'm sure.

KT.

Thanks Tony, it would have been nice to meet you as well.

Here are a few shoots of the hood being fabricated for the dual shakers.

Many hours into the steel hood. I'm amazed how seamless it looks in person. Carbon was not a good option for me with the combined heat from the engine & AZ sun.

Is the yellow epoxy? Ive seen it a few times before on other builds and always wondered what type and brand it is.

It looks like Z Chrome Rust Defender.

Don

JKnight 07-06-2011 06:37 PM

Earlier in the thread Mike from MuscleRodz said it looked like Rust Defender polyester primer. Confirming what Don said above.

We had an amazing time in Columbus as well we feel very privilege to have been one of the five selected for the Good Guys Street Machine of the Year. Congratulations to all that were selected and to the team that won.

2011 Street Machine of the Year at the 14th PPG Nationals held last weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The Nova was built by Jeremy and Phil Gerber of the Roadster Shop in Mundelein, Illinois.

The Dragon was perfect on the track! I could have did that all day…
The Ring Brothers are a wonderful team and the work they did for us was above reproach in our heart.
Thank you,
Alex

I think the Ring Brother need to change there approach and start debuting at Columbus. I think the novelty of something being new is probably why your car isn't the 2011 SMOY.

coolwelder62 07-11-2011 03:18 PM

This (Mustang) would have been My pick for SMOY.I think the RS- chevyII was to odd looking.

Maybe true, but given the prestige and notariety of the awards Dragon won at SEMA when it did debut, I highly doubt there is any regret.

DOOM 07-12-2011 06:50 AM

JA... I can't believe your not coming to Chicago Good Guys....:(

skatinjay27 07-12-2011 12:49 PM

i mentioned that the debut thing imo is also what plagued the fairlain form not winning last year, but from my view i dont think smoty is RB main goal as they have already won 2 of them and life jeff noted they always kill the sema show.

ps. i thought the inovater for RS won?

Correct it was my typo.

Thanks for all the great input.

I wish I could travel to all the shows with the Dragon; that would give me even more time on the track.:wow:

To be honest we were honored with the Mothers Shine for 2010. It would be great if everyone won for their great cars.

We had a blast at the show.

It was great meeting so many folks that just love cars, all cars.

I was wondering about the mirrors on the Dragon
